should the US institute a military draft?

It is my belief that in ANY war, the president, dictator, king or whoever should be right there, front and center of the front line! If the leader of any country or peoples wants to go to war, they should be willing to put their own necks on the line as the first to be chopped off!

In the days of old, when a leader went to war, he WAS the Commander In Chief, and was the leader of his army, with his own life in jeopardy, just like his men.

Today, the world's commanders are nothing but chicken shits that fight their wars via proxy of the poor, brainwashed and corrupt. He refuses to put his own neck on the line, putting his own life in jeopardy, even while he sits back and lets others die for him and his goals. Ever wonder why so many mercenaries, body guards and such must surround the leaders of nations? It's because they REFUSE to put their lives on the line and fear those they overlord.

You are missing the point....without compulsory military service.....there is no political will to effect policy.

War is business subject to the highest bidder....the last thing the military wants is a national draft.

What do we need to fight wars for?

Corporations are just using the military to steal resources.

I say fuck them.

We fight wars because the people that are directing these wars know they will never have to lay down their life.

If that was a factor in the equation...maybe things would be different.

Just out of curiosity but what if The New World Order is a real threat to humanity (just saying for argument sake). Under these circumstances would you still want a draft and everybody serving the government no matter what? What if the war thats being fought is not in the best interests of America, The American people, and the Constitution? And what if this was all done on purpose? Would you still want a draft and have people follow there orders to the T without blinking?

2 years mandatory service in the infantry after secondary education ought to do the trick.

No need for a draft. The ranks in the military are well within the numbers the Pentagon needs.
Starting a draft is a very long, expensive and complicated process.
Think about it...besides the paper work logistics there are the physical logistics.
First you'd need to re-ativate closed bases and units. Then you'd need to feed, cloth, train and arm the draftees.
It's not in the Pentagons budget and I don't see Congress giving the money to enact a draft.

As it stands now...'we' are looking in...pontificating.

It seems to me the only way to effect any change is from within.

If there was a compulsory draft the folks on the sidelines would have to come up to speed rather quick like.

War was good in those days! It's still pretty damn good isn't it.

I do have skin, as you say it in the battles, and I am vehemently against a draft. I dont want some snot nosed, whiny, bitch, street boy have to be in my sons unit. I don't want his life jepordized by pissy assed no good morons who cannot leave mommys skirt alone!

Now days 17 and 18 year olds are wimps and whiners. No place for them in battle!

Why don't you write your Congressman & Senator and help make sure it happens? It could be your legacy - reinstate the draft!

Yes a new arm forces of Illegal Aliens and convicts, Give them a bunch of ammo and toss them out of an aircraft over enemy territory! Let them do anything they feel like once they hit the ground!
