Ministry of Health is planning to declare a quarantine on the entire territory of Ukraine. This was at a press conference today said Health Minister Vasyl Knyazevych.
The Minister confirmed that Ukraine has recorded epidemic of highly influenza A/H1N1.
"Unfortunately, we must note that in Ukraine actually started the epidemic of influenza in California," - he said.
According to him, in two laboratories confirmed the diagnosis - recorded 11 cases of 33 samples.
"We consider the possibility of declaring a quarantine, not only in the western areas, but also throughout the country, as the virus spreads very quickly," - said V. Knyazevych.
As reported with reference to the data of the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Health, thirty people, including one child who died in the Ukraine as a result of acute respiratory infections during the period from October 19.
According to the Ministry of Health, in the Lviv region - 12 victims, including one child, in the Ternopil - 12, in Ivano-Frankivsk 6 people died.
In addition, according to the media, victims also Chernivtsi, Rivne and Transcarpathian regions - just 34 people died.
The doctors admit that the cause of death - the rapid development of SARS. At the same time, do not exclude the possibility of influenza virus A/H1N1.
Earlier in Ukraine have been officially confirmed 2 cases of highly flu. June 5, 2009 the laboratory in London confirmed the disease of influenza A/H1N1 among Ukrainians, who arrived from Paris. Before that he lived in Detroit (USA), worked as a salesman in a grocery store. After treatment, the patient went home in Chernivtsi. In addition, in late September, a man who came from the Kirovograd region Kiev and was hospitalized with a diagnosis of "pneumonia", confirmed ownership of the isolated strains of influenza virus of type A/N1N1.

This would seem to be either the Mexican strain or a relative was reading elsewhere about the symptoms seems nastier than standard H1N1. |

According to an UNIAN correspondent, reported by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, revealing an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet.
She noted that today in Lviv, Ivano-Frankovsk and Ternopol areas of the state of incidence of influenza has reached epidemic threshold.
Also, according to the prime minister, in the neighboring areas - Transcarpathian and Chernivtsi, Rivne, Volyn, Khmelnytsky and Vinnitsa - is the threat of the spread of influenza.
According to Tymoshenko, in connection with the present day in all of these nine areas of quarantine.
The Premier noted that this provides an offensive today in these regions, a three-week holiday in all educational institutions.
Also, she says, will be canceled all public events.
Y. Tymoshenko added that will also put a special regime, which will include the restriction of transport of people from these regions to other regions of Ukraine.
After opening remarks, Prime Minister, her press secretary Maryna Soroka explained to reporters that the quarantine is introduced in the nine regions of Ukraine, but the situation on the three-week holiday in all educational institutions in respect of all Ukraine.
Also Soroka added that the territory of all other quarantine measures will be specified during the cabinet meeting and a special commission, which is continuing.

I want to give you "real" news , as i'm from Poland and we are border to border and our independent news say that there is no swine flu in ukraine.
The deaths that occured are to an "unknown" disease , it is NOT h1n1 , the ukraine doctors tested the people and h1n1 was negative. |

Joe Neubarth on his radio show said last week that it is just a matter of time before H5N1 and H1N1 recombine in a swine or human host and a new viral pandemic flu will be born. It may have happened in the Ukraine. |

You have no idea how many citizens work underground, at several places. When it tested suitable, it was taken through the tunnels and carried in vials and dumped in public areas where people are always touching. You get it by sticking your fingers in your nose and mouth. PLEASE for yourself and the sake of others who tread after you, be about washing your hands. This virus is not likely to be used to quarantine folks for “marital law”. They want this to spread."

Deaths are underreported. Hospitals are in the state of emergency. Hundreds of new cases with each passing hour.

Ukraine has imposed a three week nationwide shut down on schools and banned public meetings after a surge in swine flu cases.
The epidemic has also stopped electoral campaigning as officials announced the first death from the H1N1 virus. But conflicting government reports suggest that as many as 11 people may have died.
Ukraine’s chemists have been inundated as people stock up on anti-flu medicines and face masks.
Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said emergency funds would be used: ‘‘Ukraine, by allocating money from the reserve fund, is buying the necessary quantities of medicine that are able to cope with this virus.’‘
Strict restrictions have also been placed on movement.
Ukraine’s health ministry has established quarantine measures in nine of its western regions as cases in flu sore.
Polish health authorities are not taking any chances either and have announced a state of alert in the southeast of the country.

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Raisa Bohatyriova gave her position on the Ukraina TV channel on Friday evening.
The health minister and, maybe, the chief state in such situations on obligatory vaccination of risk groups," she said.
According to Bohatyriova, the discrimination of vaccination among people is one of the reasons for the spread of the flu virus in Ukraine, although the vaccination is one of the most effective instrument to avoid the disease. |

More gas problems for Europe could be on the way with a warning from Russia’s prime minister that Ukraine may have difficulties paying its bills.
Ukraine is in the midst of a vital presidential election but Vladimir Putin said Ukraine’s president Viktor Yushchenko was hindering the central bank’s use of gold currency reserves. Ukraine’s central bank insists it has enough dollars.
“It looks as though we will again have problems with energy payments, which is very sad. The IMF made a statement yesterday and, if I am not mistaken another today, saying the Ukrainian authorities are carrying out ruinous economic policies. If it continues, the IMF refuses to cooperate with Ukraine,” Putin said.
Last winter, gas for Europe only seeped through Ukraine while Kiev and Moscow were engaged in a bitter dispute over prices, share of supply and transit revenues. Russia supplies the EU with a quarter of its gas, and most of it arrives via Ukraine.
