Honda Accord axil/tie rod
I have a question about my 95 Honda Accord. I recently got the alignment and both axils replaced at Big-O Tires. I noticed a squeaking sound when I made a sharp left turn and they told me it was the axils, so I had them replaced by Big-O. When they finished, the sound was still there and they said they couldn't figure out why. They had their manager come and drive it and he couldn't see anything, so they told me to drive it around for awhile to see if it would go away, but it didn't.

Yesterday, I was in traffic and I heard something scrape on the road and then all of a sudden I couldn't move forward or backwards. I put it in neutral and some people tried to push the car, but it wouldn't budge. I ended up calling a tow truck and they seemed to think the tie rod broke.

Are the two situations related in anyway? I have yet to take the car to the mechanic, because I want some advice on if this negligence on the part of Big-O, or if the two are different issues.

Re: Honda Accord axil/tie rod
Your first problem may have been the tie rod end (pivot connector from steering wheel to wheel) instead of the CV joint (what you call an axle, which is actually a half-axle on both sides on FWD's). You would have heard extreme popping when shifting from R to D if it had been your CV. For both sides to go out at same time would be a rare situation. So in brief, yes I think the first shop did you wrong. Your problem now is more serious than just a tie rod since the wheels would not engage in gear. Good luck.
