Yeah...like I'm gonna adopt catzilla....
 Quoting: dookie stain 627137

Once I worked at a per store that adopted out cats, there was a cat named Mexico which was a big male, and I got along good with him, but he was huge, semi-aged, and very mean to just about everyone.

One day I came to work and found he had been adopted out. I was kind of sad that I didn't get a chance to say, "So long." But then he came back in because the family returned him that day. He went berserk and ripped up a little girl's face. Then they just put him in the cage to wait for someone else to try their luck.

If a cat doesn't seem to like what you are doing to it, stop. Don't forget they are essentially small tigers. They can still tear you up fierce. Even wild kittens will ruin your fingers for weeks if you dare try and pick one up.

Dumbass... no REAL cat will ever walk on a leash.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 806543

I saw a couple walking a big, fluffy, white persian on a body harness one time. That cat was just strutting. Still there is no way I would leash something with claws that could crawl up me even if they did seem to like it. Cats are too unpredictable.

hahaha

that's what he gets fucking cock sucker

leashing a cat is fucking retarded

I actually used to walk my cat on a leash when I was a kid. He was an outside cat and one day some girl on a bike accidentally ran him over. He suffered neurological damage - pretty much just walked in circles to get anywhere. We'd have to take the little retarded bastard outside so he could do his business. Probably should have put him down but we just loved his stupid little face. He lived 12 years.

Re: Why NOT to Put a Leash on a Cat.Quote

I have five cats. Three Maine Coons and two Domestic short hair.
All of them are aloud in the back yard during the day (kitty escape proof) and they are welcome to pee and poop in my garden, the poop acts as manure and the urine turns the plants greener.
I have tried walking them on a leash, non of them liked it, was very entertaining for me to watch.
As for the Mane Coons, they are a large breed, known as the gentle giant but I could see them doing alot of damage if pissed off.

I agree. What boggles my mind is that he was making a video to adopt the cat out as if he works at a humane society? I hope he doesn't work for an animal shelter 'cuz he's clueless about cats.

I own four - correction - the four own me! Two never went outside and don't know the difference. The third I found living in my barn with a broken leg. He has colitis and I keep him inside for his own health and safety. The fourth - was found wandering the streets of a nearby town. He has absolutely NO "street smarts". If let out, he goes and lies in the middle of the road! So, yes, I worked at animal shelters and because of all I've seen, I am all for indoor cats.

However, my non-street smart cat has an abundance of energy and just aches to be outside so I got him a body leash. He loves it. You can't be like the douchebag in the video, tho and just put it on them, for cryin' out loud! I left it on the floor for several days and dangled it and played with the cats with it. I waited a week before I tried putting it on him. If he resisted, it came off. Eventually he didn't' resist and his reward was going outside in it. But once outside you still have to take the cat's lead. Let him go where he wants, then gently tug on the leash and call him now and then. Because you aren't rushing him, he is less likely to mind and more apt to understand your call when you want him to come along.

Now when I go get the leash - he knows what it means! Result? He gets fresh air, doesn't try to slip thru the door every time it's open and not only do I know he's safe, but he sleeps better at night (and thus, so do I!).

I'm rooting for the cat. Too bad a few Americans haven't got the guts of that cat to fight the slave leash they have lived with all their lives.

I guess that Americans are more like dumb sheep than they are in any way intelligent as that cat.

Im not a cat lover at all. To be honnest i hate the things mostly. I like big cats, just hate pet cats.

Cat owners are inconsiderate cunts, they just let the cat out and think out of sight out of mind.

Cats shit/piss and wreck the gardens of neighbours, and the owners dont give a fuck, and when you make note of it they think you are weird because you dont like cats.

You cant keep fish in a pond properly, you cant keep an aviary, and you certainly cant let lizards, snakes, and parrots in the yard without being very careful.

FUCK CATS.

Re: Why NOT to Put a Leash on a Cat.Quote

I rescued a cat (Russian Blue) whose previous owner declawed her front paws. Furthermore, she was locked up in a laundry room for most of her days and never got to see/smell/hear outside of those walls. =(

I worry that if I let her out she will not be able to protect herself from other animals or climb trees to safety. She had never ever even seen outside before, and she's 3. I have another cat that goes in and out as he pleases (his name is Hops), and Juniper (the R. Blue cat) watches him. She's gotten to where she LOVES just sitting on the porch. One day she even ran out to the sidewalk of our yard.

I am seriously thinking about teaching her to walk on a leash, so that she can be outside and enjoy it, but still be safe from predators. I hate when pet owners declaw their cats. It's inhumane. I also think it is a crime to keep a cat indoors all of the time, and especially locked up so they never even get to see outside.

That cat in the video was so within his rights to do what he did!!! lol Serves the guy right. Who takes a cat outside where he/she in an unfamiliar area with unfamiliar people handling him/her, who is on a leash, and scared out of its mind - and expects to walk away unharmed? Anyone who knows anything about cats knows that this is just inherent to kitty cat behavior. Sorry to say that the people in the video were out of touch and shouldn't have been handling a cat. Period. Seriously?!?! Even my 7-year-old knows better!

What's great is that they got it on video. I wonder if they show it at their training sessions for new employees???

funny ass video OP..

I once put my big old black cat "church" on a leash just for fun..he was mainly an outside cat..he was walking around fine at first the he fealt a little tension and wheeeee ..he was bouncing all over the place about 6 ft in the air..so fuckin hilarious..

We'll just say that was his last and only time on a leash...

This same cat...since he was an outside cat, I would give him baths every once in a while...He did some of the fastest ninja type shit getting behind me and out the bathroom.. really...
don't fuck with cats they are very quick and creative..little survivors

he eventually got feline leukemia...about 1/3 of all cats have it..so if any of you have outdoor cats ..watch out for your kitty and learn more about this terrible disease..

Naaaa. Cats reign supreme, and I'm a dog person. That cat was amazing. Gave the guy what was coming to him.

Didn't that guy have some kind of police/military badge on him? Isn't this a sort of message of some kind -- what will happen to all us useless eaters -- I love it.

God praise that cat. Go for the balls, man. Go for the balls and don't let go.

Re: Why NOT to Put a Leash on a Cat.Quote

my cat learned to walk on a leash... he had too for we lived in the desert near Tuscon and the coyotees ate cats all the time. It was very very very very hard to teach him, for when he felt the leash, he just sat down. yet after about 20 trys, he found he would much rather roam with the leash.......

I saw a group of eight coyotees once, and each one had a rabbit yet one had an orange cat intheir mouths... going home to feast...
