I think you made the right decision.
Judgement is based on what you know in respect to how long you have lived. Those who were without the law will be Judged according to thier heart bearing witness with thier conscious. Those the knew the law will be Judged according to the law. Natural Law ....mosaic law etc... Those who have heard Christ will be Judged accordingly.None are without excuse! It still just comes down to knowing right from wrong. Am I just eternally unlucky if I had been born in Syria and my parents are Muslim? How about India in the 18th century? How about in the Soviet Union under Stalin?
All you are doing here is reducing all of human existence, all 100 billion people who have been born in this planet in modern history into following some ancient doctrine, and all the while, nothing else really matters.
It is and aspect of human psychology to replace gaps in knowledge with beliefs. But beliefs are not knowledge, it is a way of trying the understand something that is unknown to you.
And my biggest questions: Why does God have to be so hateful and destructive and so intolerant of his creation that he would condemn us for eternity for being stupid? |

And what happens to your faith when there is no rapture and you find yourself in the tribulation? Many will fall away - will you be one of them?
Or will you persevere? If you are counting on escaping you are setting yourself up.

Almost everything in the watered-down modern day Christianity is a lie.
How could nearly the entire country be practicing pagan holidays and not know it, if this were not true?
When I came to Christ I led away from the church. Not to it.
I follow Him, not some organized bastardized religion.

The issue herein your confession is the need to publicly decry your beliefs, which may have had little foundation from the outset and whatever further education you had may have set you up for unbelief. Too many bible colleges teach the NT without the OT and this just does not work. Not knowing that, it seems that you were setting yourself up and contended from the outset with baiting yourself with disbelief, divorcing yourself because of your sinful nature which is shared by all of us for justification to just quit bothering with it. It is apparent that you have really not reconciled yourself with whAt Paul states frequently of how short he always felt he measured up to reconciling his faith and works out of that with his nature.
We are corrupt, we are told that over and over and Jesus through His merciful love redeemed us, all of us.
You may have a comfort level now because you no longer have to 'hide' your feelings' but it will be short. But our loving God never said that was the unpardonable sin, He did say, however, denying the Holy Spirit is so be very careful in your comfort. The devil's greatest lie is not that Jesus isn't real but that he doesn't, Satan, exist.
That you should use this forum for how you have is very sad for those who struggle and who are looking for reasons to deny God, too. For that you have done a real disservice. |

Okay since the reason you worship him is because you want to be like him, the ultimate question you should ask yourself is this: "When will he teach you how to develop those awesome special powers of his?" Without this I don't see why anyone should worship anybody else. Just like I worship my physics teacher in the area of science but the guy never teaches me anything about physics. |

I love how the people who reply have no idea that OP didnt write this but still refer to him as the author, questioning his faith and beliefs and even going so far as to say the Author has no knowledge of what he's devoted his life for.
You people say "oh you want to publicly denounce our religion blah blah" but then you get right on the defensive when asked why we should not denounce it. It's just a giant circle of misinformation, and coming to GLP is a waste of time because NONE of you are experts, yet write the written word of your Master as if you are.
It's a complex cycle in this forum, and all you Christians are just a small part in the mosaic of false beliefs and fanaticism.
Stop your preaching, You are not the Father Son Or Holy Spirit. You have no rights whatsoever to question the Authors beliefs.

The rights to question were granted by what the author or poster offered into a very public forum.
There might very well, indeed, be a psychological reason why poster has opened himself up, of which he may be unaware . There are no accidents, there is a reason behind every act that a person commits.
In self examination there are tough questions which we likely avoid. In that this has been a life changing exerience it deserves careful and really honest delving into to determine the truth of it.
Furthermore, this is not confined to him, it exds into a family and how it affects them and as a father how it may affect them for the rest of their lives. In what manner does this subject person feel he is free to live? What he pursues and how his character is reflected. |

Okay since the reason you worship him is because you want to be like him, the ultimate question you should ask yourself is this: "When will he teach you how to develop those awesome special powers of his?" Without this I don't see why anyone should worship anybody else. Just like I worship my physics teacher in the area of science but the guy never teaches me anything about physics.

Wow. I have only been reading GLP for about two weeks but this has got to be one of the best posts I've seen. I would give you five stars if I knew how.
This universe is to big and complex to be defined as a battle between God and Lucifer with us poor helpless humans stuck in the middle and the destiny of your sole being based on what you chose to believe.
Think about what the Christian say that God says:
"I'm going to give you an average of 70 years to figure out who Jesus was and of you get it wrong I am going to torture you for eternity.

I have to give the Bible lots of credits and I sincerely mean it. Without it, these Christians would do so much damage to people around them (except the crazy ones that murdered people in the past). All their wild and violent traits and tendencies have been suppressed by their God. Can you imagine if there is no God for these people to believe in? |

I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU..organized religion is lost due to it's merger with Judaism. It is good that you have left it.
It is wrong, however, to reject the offer of eternal life..retain your belief and trust in CHRIST JESUS. There is no other way to have condemnation lifted from your soul when you fall.
You have your eternal life as a gift..do not reject that gift. Remember the word "church" is just another word for "assembling"..and that work is accomplished by THE HOLY SPIRIT. The assembling spoken of in scripture is being one in SPIRIT. The true spiritual Israel are living stones shaped and fitted together into a spiritual temple.
PERHAPS you are simply Hasbari using an intricate "ex-Christian" story to attack Christianity. If so, only judgement awaits you. If, however, you're telling the truth, then leaving the compromise of so-called Christianity was an act of obedience to THE HOLY SPIRIT.
I have known many in organized religion with mind of "babes"..who falsely believed they knew much. Recall Nicodemus.
Be sealed in the mind of Christ, do good and gather those who seemingly were not invited to the wedding. For indeed they have been invited ..a worldly "church" cannot see..the last shall be first. |
