Yo OPie, did you actually read what the genetically altered virus is supposed to do, or do you just go off half cocked like a 12 year old all the time?
I did.... it's for making vaccines. But that's not the point. The point is, this patent was applied for in 2005 before this "novel" strain ever appeared. They genetically engineered this virus and then released it on the public. Now, they want the public to take their poison vaccine. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 765854

Jesus some people in this thread are stupid.
The reason the patents are held is because the virus is cultured for study, its probably produced a certain way and they probably patented a process for producing it.
The information in this thread doesnt suggest any malevolent purposes at all.
If there were evil intentions they would not even patent the thing in the first place as there are laws around producing pathogens.

Because if the goverment wnted to kill everybody they would do it with swine flu instead of something like ebola.
Yeah right, swine flu is pretty damn feeble in comparison to what is stored in many labs around the world.
Its about as useful as a bioweapon as a peashooter is in occupation of iraq.

Nice find. The patent itself should be enough to confirm many people's suspicions that an engineered H1N1 virus is possible.

When the H1N1 level 6 pandemic was declared, (thanks to an arbitrary decision to drop the criteria of high mortality rate) GSK saw a window of opportunity to use its current adjuvans formulation that was designed for the very high risk bird-flu vaccine (which does not work without a heavy duty adjuvans)to mix with the split-virus H1N1 antigen (which is not a highly deadly virus, and does NOT need adjuvans to be effective: just a double dose of antigen is sufficient). This is how the very clumsily formulated "PandemRix" was born, complete with the identical two component military style 10 dose formulation bottles containing a zest of thiomersal, which increases its toxicity, and makes an "in tempore" mixing with the squalene emulsion necessary.

I think you need to do some research bud, some of the viruses out there are millions of years old.
There was a swine flu outbreak in the 70s.

this guy - one works for the WHO
at least two were involved in the reconstruction of the 1918 spanish influenza
and one is resident microbiologist at the council on foreign relations
doesn't look like anyone's going after these guys... |

If you do choose not to vaccinate, at least take additional measures to minimize your risks of getting infected with the H1N1 virus by getting CDC approved N95 rated face masks or respirators. During the Anthrax scare, stores online and offline were running out of gas masks. Do not wait until it is too late. Start stocking up on pandemic supplies.
