The Rain Keeps Falling on the Beans

For those who are not farmers, this is happening all over the Midwest. Soybeans and corn have a minimum water content allowed. To harvest soybeans, you need to shatter the pod and stalks with the combine. Wet beans cannot be harvested and eventually beans will fall out of the pods to the ground if they are not harvested at the right time.

Also for all the non-farmers out there, USDA forecasts for annual crop yields do not take into account seasonal weather variances. They do this by regulatory decree though most forecasters in the USDA know it gives false forecast data. Due to the cold wet summer delaying grain development and now the overly wet fall delaying harvest, this could be a real bad year despite what the USDA says.

As I look the the latest harvest reports the news is absolutely stunning. Everything is wet or covered in snow. The only good report I have seen to date is coming from North Carolina. There will be a lot of farmers going broke this year I think and perhaps a few grain elevators as well.

This issue was accurately predicted back in 1995 and restated many times on GLP that the effect of our current Earth wobble would create more unstable weather, swings in temperature, as well as swings from drought to deluge, causing serious problems in agriculture.

As Soybeans (and corn) are part of the fundamentals of today's agriculture, supermarket food prices will now receive an additional, and large, impetus upward.

Wise-ass remarks will not change that.

So folks see where a major part of next year's food price increases will come from.

Very true!! I know a ton of farmers and live in a farm community (Southern Minnesota).

They are scared of what is going on. Plus the farmers are leveraged on land and equipment due to last years amazing commodity prices.

This could make everything change for the US and global economy.

Now, some of you are probably wondering what the above videos have to do with this thread. Some may even think it 'off-topic'. O.k., who can tell me then what is the key word in relation to the theme of the above videos?

Indeed, it is "rain". But the theme is about embracing the rain as a positive experience - that way we fully appreciate the sunlight when it eventually arrives. It is also about hope - hence the "rainbow".

Re: The Rain Keeps Falling on the BeansQuote

O.K., here you go. This El Nino is definitely playing a role with the cold rainy weather. But you could also look at it this way, some short term pain for long-term gain is Good News!

Excerpt from: [link to www.commercialappeal.com]

The damp conditions can be attributed in part to the El Nino cycle that began during the summer, said National Weather Service meteorologist Andy Sniezak. El Nino, which warms the eastern Pacific Ocean near the equator, normally brings wetter weather to the Memphis area.

But given the drought conditions of the past few years, the extra rain isn't all bad, Sniezak said. "In some ways, it helps get us back to a more normal level over the long term."
