Friendly Bacteria Blunt Anti-Nutrient Action
The “good” bacteria strain Bifidobacterium may reduce levels of phytate and phytic acid, compounds which are thought to be behind fiber’s impairment of mineral absorption.
Phytase enzymes produced by strains of bifidobacteria could reduce phytate and phytic acid levels in food.
When compared to high-fiber bread baked traditionally, fermentation of bread with the Bifidobacterium strains led to significantly lower phytic acid levels.

Fermentation Also Makes Soy Healthy
Just as good bacteria was found to reduce phytate and phytic acid levels in bread, the same also holds true for soy.
Nonfermented soy products, which include tofu and the myriad of soy burgers, soy milk, soy ice cream and other processed soy foods, contain phytic acid, which has anti-nutritive properties. Phytic acid binds with certain nutrients, such as iron, to inhibit their absorption. This is a direct, physical effect that takes place in your digestive system.
They’ve also been found to contain toxins and disruptive plant estrogens that can damage your thyroid.
After a long fermentation process, however, the phytic acid and anti-nutrient levels of the soybeans are reduced, and their beneficial properties -- such as the creation of natural probiotics -- become available to your digestive system.
It also greatly reduces the levels of dangerous isoflavones, which are similar to estrogen in their chemical structure, and can interfere with the action of your own estrogen production.

•Traditionally Made Soy Sauce: traditionally, soy sauce is made by fermenting soybeans, salt and enzymes, however be wary because many varieties on the market are made artificially using a chemical process.
One of the great scams of the industrial food cartel is the so-called "fresh" orange juice sold in supermarkets.
Some reality checks:
1.There is more vitamin c in a single orange than in a full glass of industrial orange juice.
2.Truly fresh orange juice only lasts a few days. It if last for weeks (or months), it's an industrial product.
3.Until the Florida orange growers launched a campaign in the early 20th century to deal with their surplus crop, the only people who drank orange juice were Floridians who had a tree in their backyard. There is nothing particularly healthy or natural about drinking orange juice -- and the industrial product is a total waste of money.
Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found that 15 brands of powdered infant formula are contaminated with perchlorate, a rocket fuel component detected in drinking water in 28 states and territories.
The two most contaminated brands, made from cow’s milk, accounted for 87 percent of the U.S. powdered formula market in 2000, the scientists said. The CDC scientists did not identify the formula brands they tested.
The CDC findings, published in the March 2009 edition of the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology, raise new concerns about perchlorate pollution, a legacy of Cold War rocket and missile tests. Studies have established that the chemical is a potent thyroid toxin that may interfere with fetal and infant brain development.
The new CDC study provides some of the strongest evidence yet that a legally enforceable safe drinking water level for perchlorate should be a priority for the Obama administration.

But thimerosal is not the only questionable and potentially dangerous ingredient in flu vaccines.
Adjuvants Explained
In order for a vaccine to be considered effective, your immune response to the vaccine should be to produce antibodies to the live or dead viruses in the vaccine (the antigen). An adjuvant is a substance added to a vaccine to improve your immune response to the antigen. The word comes from the Latin adjuvare, which means "to help."
By adding adjuvants the vaccine can contain less viral antigens, which reduces production costs.
Unfortunately, many of these adjuvants are highly toxic.
There are several types of adjuvants. Some of the most commonly used ones include:
•Aluminium hydroxide
•Aluminium phosphate
•Calcium phosphate
Other adjuvants include oil-based emulsions such as squalene, Squalene has not been licensed by the FDA for use in vaccines distributed in the U.S. yet, although squalene is an adjuvant used in vaccines distributed in Europe and other countries.
GlaxoSmithKline's proprietary formula ASO3™ and Novartis' MF59™ are two examples of squalene adjuvants.
As damaging as the neurotoxin mercury is, it's important to realize that aluminum is also a neurotoxin and aluminum-based adjuvants are estimated to be even MORE toxic than mercury.
Go Organic to Avoid rBGH, Monsanto and Eli Lilly's Genetically Modified Bovine Growth Hormone

Demand for organic milk has grown at an annual rate of 20% until recently, while overall milk consumption has dropped by 10%.
"Nevertheless," Dr. Epstein emphasizes, "only a few schools make organic milk available, nor do most state governments, under low- income food programs, particularly by the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children."

Boycott Genetically Engineered Bovine Growth Hormone
Following up on our successful campaign against Yoplait and Dannon, the Organic Consumers Association is now asking our members to boycott ice cream companies that still allow the use of genetically modified bovine growth hormone (Dreyer's, Edy's, Nestle, Haagen-Dazs, Klondike, Good Humor, Breyer's).
The Organic Consumers Association is also joining Breast Cancer Action's Milking Cancer campaign to get Eli Lilly to drop rBGH, which they recently bought from Monsanto and now market through Elanco. As Breast Cancer Action points out, the irony is that Eli Lilly sells both cancer treatment drugs and rBGH, which causes cancer.
We're also targeting the National Federation of Milk Producers which allows rBGH in its new Dairy FARM (Farmers Assuring Responsible Management) program.

Are You Too Busy to Catch the Hidden Beauty Life Has to Offer?
On a cold January morning in a Washington, DC Metro Station, a man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time about two thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

In the end, only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money, but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32. When he finished playing, no one applauded, nor was there any recognition.
The violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell had sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
The performance was organized as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and people's priorities. In a common place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do you perceive beauty? Do you stop to appreciate it? Do you recognize talent in an unexpected context?
If you do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, how many other things might you be missing?
Choosing Between Raw Milk and a Dead, White Liquid
David Gumpert makes two very important points in this video that bear repeating:
1.Louis Pasteur, father of pasteurization, was researching ways to kill pathogens in wine, not milk, when he developed his heat treatment process. Pasteur did not experiment with the heat treatment of milk!
2.While you have been led to believe pasteurization significantly reduced childhood illnesses like tuberculosis and typhoid, the process came into prominence in the late 1800’s-early 1900’s, simultaneous with the building of sewage systems and improvements in the cleanliness of our water supply. Given this timing, it’s quite likely the benefits of pasteurization alone have been greatly exaggerated.
Pasteurization Kills All the Benefits of Milk
The FDA would have you believe pasteurization of milk protects you from deadly pathogens contained in raw milk. The fact is, however, that if cows are raised as nature intended (free-range and grass fed), there is no need to process the milk these healthy animals produce.
The journey that turns healthy raw milk into a dead, white liquid full of allergens and carcinogens begins with modern feeding methods.
Cows are raised on high-protein, soy-based feeds instead of fresh green grass. Instead of free range grazing, they stand in feed lots and manure all day.
Breeding methods produce cows with abnormally large pituitary glands so that they produce three times more milk than normal. These cows need antibiotics to keep them well. Needless to say, the antibiotics they are given wind up in the milk you and your family drink.
Pasteurization transforms the physical structure of the proteins in milk, such as casein, and alters the shape of the amino acid configuration into a foreign protein that your body is not equipped to handle. The process also destroys the friendly bacteria found naturally in milk and drastically reduces the micronutrient and vitamin content.
Pasteurization destroys part of the vitamin C in raw milk, encourages the growth of harmful bacteria, and turns milk’s naturally occurring sugar (lactose) into beta-lactose. Beta-lactose is rapidly absorbed in the human body, with the result that hunger can return quickly after a glass of milk – especially in children.
The pasteurization process also makes insoluble most of the calcium found in raw milk. This can lead to a host of health problems in children, among them rickets and bad teeth. And then there’s the destruction of about 20 percent of the iodine available in raw milk, which can cause constipation.
When pasteurized milk is also homogenized, a substance known as xanthine oxidase is created. This compound can play a role in oxidative stress by acting as a free radical in your body.
Why is Government So Fiercely in Favor of Pasteurization?
When the FDA equates drinking raw milk to “playing Russian roulette with your health,” I assume they’re referring to the milk that comes out of most commercial dairies (the same ones they recommend as good sources for your milk).
The following is a brief description from The Humane Society of the United States (whose undercover video also recently prompted the largest beef recall in U.S. history) about what these factory-farm dairies are really like:
“Factory farmed dairy cows are typically kept in indoor stalls or on drylots. A drylot is an outdoor enclosure devoid of grass. Cows raised on drylots usually have no protection from inclement weather, nor are they provided with any bedding or a clean place to rest.
Drylots can hold thousands of cows at one time. Because these lots are only completely cleaned out once -- or at the most, twice -- a year, the filth just keeps building up. Such conditions are not only extremely stressful for the cows, they also facilitate the spread of disease.”
It’s true if you were to drink milk from these cows prior to pasteurization, you could indeed be risking your health.
And when state regulators also get in on the act, it is simply inexcusable government intrusion on the freedom of choice of American consumers.
There’s also the matter of very powerful dairy industry lobbies. What would happen to the majority of the dairy industry if raw milk really caught on? They’d be forced to clean up their acts. Raise healthier cows. Give them access to pasture. As only healthy cows are the ones that you would buy raw milk from.
