I have noticed you seem to take some comments very personally, that I see as really quite inane comments in nature. There is such a readiness to 'defend.' Why is that?
When one is debating or discussing something, it is not okay to clarify an incorrect assumption? That isn't defense. Quoting: lil*miss
I think that clarification is good. Especially when a person adds to your words, or implies they mean something very different than they do. In these cases clarification is necessary.
But defending oneself against something that is not there was what was confusing to me. For example, nobody called you 'young and misinformed' but yet earlier you had suggested that is what Major and I were thinking, (reading our minds?) due to your name. Nobody said anything of the sort to you and you pulled that out of thin air. And, you added to my words by accusing me of calling you a Pagan when I never said that.
The above examples would qualify as incorrect assumptions as far as I am concerned, subject to clarification.

This is a better interpretation of that passage, but the wicked do love to take the scriptures out of context (in this case the context was not about God creating evil but the fact that He is the only one that is in control of everything) and twist it to their own agenda.
And anyone who uses this verse to try to "prove" that God is evil only goes to show off their spiritual retardation. |

And for the record I have no problem with a Sovereign God who allows evil in order to test our resolve. That would have been the more accurate response to Isaiah 45 (I was not twisting scripture, God was letting Cyrus know he was the God of all).
This is a better interpretation of that passage, but the wicked do love to take the scriptures out of context (in this case the context was not about God creating evil but the fact that He is the only one that is in control of everything) and twist it to their own agenda.

Man, is that the truth in certain areas of my life. When it comes to what is best for me.....I am usually very wrong. That is because the tendency is to try and solve my problems without God. Every time I try it my stubborn and stupid way, it fails.
Time and time again God reminds me of my condition and my limited wisdom by showing me what right really means. Funny though, right in Godly terms is not a sports match between right and wrong, with two teams playing against each other. Right means whole. Wrong means lacking.
And, when I am 'wrong' I do not get beat over the head by God, he just dusts me off each time and then shows me a better way. His way. The 'right' (whole) way.
God help me if I ever get to the point where I believe that I am always right. If I ever get there, I would not need God anymore, and I would surely destroy myself. |

Well, let me ask you this. If I say I have a relationship with God, a friendship, how would you define that in human terms? Would you call me a Christian or a Jew? Is that the true meaning of Christian or Jew?
What do you call a person who says they are a friend of God? You may call them just plain crazy. Who knows.
A friend of God is a first a friend of His fellow Man and second a lover of Good, Wisdom, and Righteousness (qualities of the Father).
That is putting people before God, IMO. It also does not work for me. If I have no heart for God, I cannot truly have compassion for people. I can say that I do. I can pretend that I do, but I don't really. It's a false compassion. I know because I have been in both places.
If a person is a lover of God and a friend of God, those things you mentioned follow very naturally. It is impossible to love God and hate people at the same time. Impossible. If that's the case there is something very wrong with us, not God.
It is however possible to hate God and to hate people at the same time.
Ok, we can get caught up in chicken or egg debate, and in a theological treatise, but what I love about Jesus is his simplicity, Jesus taught us the way to love God, and in fact love Jesus, was to love those in need...
