The above letter by Ron Paul.
Same type of thing happened to Japan. Their bubble in stocks and housing busted around 1990.....and they are still in recession....even with interest rates near Zero.
The World Economic System from 1949 until 1973 required nations to pay for imports with Gold. Nixon stopped it as too much gold was leaving the country.
However, if it was instead kept in place, we would have been forced to cut back on imports from China.....and also would have ended foreign wars, and probably a lot of social programs and other things not really required.
Instead the dollar was adopted as the new world currency rather than gold.....and we could therefore live beyond our means. We have been able to sell treasury securities and also the surplus countries like China have had to funnel the dollars back into the USA to avoid increasing the value of it's own currency through a conversion. This would have made them less competitive.
The Chinese funelled all those dollars back into US stocks, corporate bonds, treasuries, etc.....and other surplus countries have done this as well. This helped to create easy money here, bubbles, etc. They are now however becoming less comfortable with dollar denominated investments.
Eventually bubbles break and there is much damage left behind. Generally this involves over-capacity.....with too many homes having been built, too many stores, too many factories, etc. New construction and investment dies out. Likewise the banks also become very conservative, increase requirements for loans, and do not want to take on too much risk.
Even with near Zero Interest Rates in Japan.....people do not want to borrow because their is still too much over capacity and not much potential.....and banks do not want to lend. They have been in recession for 20 years and the banks continue in trouble....and there is no end in sight. They can no longer stimulate be lowering rates.....and about the only thing left is just to give away large amounts of money to the people (highly inflationary).
The world money supply has exploded since being on the dollar standard.......and created many booms and busts around the world......as the flow of it can be easily manipulated by the bankers. Markets can no longer quickly self-correct as when tied to gold. |

I expect next that the replies to this reply will be to profess my ignorance and possibly even call me names. Most common names used my be: shrill, troll, or even anything in the realm of a general "dumbass".
This is expected. Afterall, It seems that the mentality of some forums have the same rules as 3rd grade name calling contests.

And I don't agree with those that are molding them. You need to form your own opinions. Not be led to believe what someone wants you to think . That very ideal brought you to this place in the first place. Now...think. |

Understanding does not mean believe,
Of the handful who believe, most may not know what to do,
Those who even know, how many will actually do ?
And the rare ones who have done it.......

I was for Ron Paul.
Still, 23 trillion. That is one hell of a number. And with numbers that large, I need some proof. I save me the hours of research, can you tell me where you are getting 23 trillion from? Forums move faster than I can do subjective research.
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not an Obama lover, but I'm no Bush lover either. I think the last election was the perfect example of a lose-lose situation for the american people.
Still, the figure of 23 trillion is way and far beyond any number I've run across.
Perhaps I've overlooked something. Its possible, I'm not a know-it-all. A little clarification would be enlightening to me and support your augument.

It's called Cap and Trade. Cap and Trade will ruin most of all of this countries rural communities. I'm already fighting madly against a man called "Pappy" on Topics. He is using words to decribe people out of the south-easten united states that I claim is no different than calling an African-American a N----. This is a lobbiest working for Obama. I see families, good people, moving into their parents homes with their families, because Obama's fight against coal.
This is insanity. Obama is insanity. You cannot take away jobs from hundreds of thousands of families and expect the future alternative to show up out of thin air and replace those jobs. That is what Obama is thinking will happen.
No, I see families losing homes, going hungry and a entire region of the US, getting the shaft. Worse is yet to come. We are not using our natural resources to make work for our people. We are purposely letting those go. In the meantime...China is makeing a killing in the economic market because we have restricted ourselves, with taxes and penalties ( CAP and TRADE ) to the point of not ever being able to be profitable.
I've augued that we can replace coal if we first develope the replacement....That makes sense. Create first the replacement job, then the worker has a place to go too. Obama believes otherwise, he believes you should destroy all work and the replacement will follow.....
Welcome to reality.....Families lose their homes, no replacement jobs in sight, poverty and crime and goverment handouts grow to exponential numbers....
Obama..........Thats what I think about that.

The way he was treated in his presidential debates is becoming a movement amoung many people. He was treated so obviously unfairly that it is bringing only more attention to him.
Ron Paul may never get the power to make any real change, however, his effort will make its own change. Sometimes the way that you fail is evidence enough to work against the system that surpresses you. Ron Paul didn't win the election. But Ron Paul has more attention now than he ever had before. |

 | | Re: Be Prepared for the Worst (Ron Paul,) | Quote | I read the information about the 23 trillion.
Its distubing. But also not surprising.
We are being raped right now. Not just us. But our children and our grandchildren. The people in power now must have a plan for world slavery. That is the only way that I can imagine that our future children would be willing to go along with this muck. I'll be very honest. If I was told at the age of 16 or so that I am obligated for paying a debt that occured before I was born, I would say..FU!!!!!I'm not paying you shit!!!!
And that is what will happen.
And anyone that tries to enforce that debt on these kids, and unborn kids....you deserve hell. Its not fair. Its not right. You fk'ed up, not your kids. Don't ask them to pay for your FU.
Worse case is that there will be war over this. I expect war.
Such a waist. Too bad. You greedy bastards. FU. Thats my last line for tonight. Goodbye. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 338377 11/2/2009 4:00 AM | | Re: Be Prepared for the Worst (Ron Paul,) | Quote | The "controllers" have planned this collapse.
They will continue to create more and more dollar credits out of thin air, thereby degrading the purchasing power of the $US dollar until the average American citizen is so impoverished he/she will have great difficulty just paying for food and rent.
Watch for the bailouts to proliferate and escalate.
Huge numbers of Alt-A mortgages and option ARMortgages will be resetting to higher interest rates over the next 18 months leading to defaults, foreclosures, and leveraged derivative contract implosion even more catastrophic to the financial system than the failure of the subprime mortgage sector.
Then the power brokers will call for TARP II, even more massive than TARP I.
This is another "controlled demolition".
All of this is designed to consolidate power and wealth in the hands of the elite, to the destruction of the average American citizen.By this methodology, the elite will prevent
the dumbed-down, asleep-at-the-switch American citizen from rising up to prevent the wholesale looting of their future, resulting in the enslavement of their children and grandchildren for generations to come!
Ron Paul sees what they are up to.
The foolish, lazy, apathetic "sheeple" do not.
In 2 more years....it's too late to act.By then, the elite will have seized control of all the banks, they will have concentrated the bulk of the wealth in their hands. They will also control your health care options, and then will be able to decide whether you live or you die.
UNLESS...Americans figure this out
and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! |

I think you mean Clinton, Barney Franks and the ACORN thugs who demanded every body be given a mortgage whether or not they could afford one. Franks roomate was running FannieAme or FreddieMac, one or the other or oversight of both and that is what triggered the collapse.
But Bush wasted billions and Obama trillions.
The rubble we are now standing in belongs solely to Obama as it was his stimulus plan he had to have passed the minute he came into office that we will never be able to repay.
Where are the jobs he promised? The three million? |
