Croatia = Catholic Christianity
Bosnia = Sunni Islam (ala Turkey), Bosniacs only
Serbia = National Orthodox Chr.
Montenegro = Nat. Orthodox Chr.
Macedonia = Nat. Othodox Chr.
Kosovo = Sunni Islam (ala Turkey), Shiptars/Albanians only
All ex-Yugoslavia (now Western Balkan, without Albania).
Yes, its a mix of cultures, a mix of religions.
Balkan is agreat landscape and its shameful for Balkans, Europe and all the planet for state like this; past 1000 years of history.
I do have friends there, I am not Balkanian and I not live there. But I do really think there will another great conflict again. Only help or solution is take them in EU TOGETHER (all in once) and make them, for say 20 years, as a province under jurisdicson of EU and army forces (NATO and Russia). Best for them, Europe and all the rest.
Or there will be a war conflicts again.

what bullshit! User ID: 809263 11/3/2009 6:41 AM | | Re: New balkan war(s) | Quote | i am sure most of you posting bullshit about the balkans and the people who live there don't have a clue. you have probably never been there, and are only spewing your propaganda based only going on the bullshit you've heard in the main stream media.
this is total bullshit!
don't post about things you don't know about.
no, i'm not from the balkans--I am american 100% 3rd generation (with italian descent). Yes, I have been to the balkans more than once, and I found it to be a good place with many good, decent people who have gotten a really bad rap.
open up your mind and don't be so prejudice with what you don't know about. and, think about what many people have said and will say about us americans and what we've done--we have a lot more blood on our hands then any other country in the past half century. maybe we rather look internally next time.
peace to all. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 809295 11/3/2009 7:03 AM | | Re: New balkan war(s) | Quote | Not so. Most of people posting here, on this thread, are Balkans. Me, OP, also know very well Balkan and I was there about 40x.
Yes, americans do have blood on their/yours hand, but also do have Balkans. Its not so innocent there, but you know, people from Balkan do very like to sell their little stories (pricaju price). I do know well serbo-croatian language and you probably not. They are not some victims, not as they preach, a lot of blood is on their hands AND from their hands. Sarajevo is, for example, not so much victim as they say and probably naive westerns believe, like Bono (U2) who is always there, where a material for his own self propaganda is.
Cetniki, Ustase, Turcini etc. this are words which are a curse words between/amongs them.
Not to make judge about Balkans on words that sell you some sportist, artists, "peacemakers", intelectuals, students etc. origin from Balkan. They always present themself as victims, but its not so, not in majority. Then who was in war down there? Some foreigner mercenaries? Maybe 500 of them, all the rest was a "native people of Balkan".
Who is now mainstream? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 809295 11/3/2009 7:10 AM | | Re: New balkan war(s) | Quote | ...and yes, do you know how much brutaly deads was done in 2 WW from hords known as Cetnici (Serbia), Ustase (Croatia) and rest of it? You dont know really how bloody was there and how people suffer and how dangerous is it if this tribal wars will go out of Balkans borders.

Anonymous Coward User ID: 809309 11/3/2009 7:28 AM | | Re: New balkan war(s) | Quote | Thanks to God, Slovenia is out of Western Balkan, out of ex-Yugoslavia and is now couple of years part of EU and NATO. Nothing to compare with Balkan. Not "from Triglav to Vardar" Its "from Bregana to Vardar". South from line Trieste-Odessa is Balkan; basic geog. |

Can somebody please explain to me why the hell this area seems to be such a hotspot for war and why tptb seem to want to control it so? |

I`m realy sorry when I see people write about something they dont have a clue. Say that other people you dont even know, deserve to die and kill eachother is telling more about you people then about them.
People are sheople even on Balkan, but that dosnt mean that they deserve what "big shots" has decided for them. `
THERE ARE MORE HEARTLESS PÉOPLE HERE on this forum then on any other I`ve visited.
I`m realy sorry for you...

When and where anybody on this thread say people on Balkan deserve to die?
Its only about there are tensions on Balkan, like there are in Middle East, Pakistan, Korean penninsula etc.
Dont have a clue? Me personaly do, so I dont accept wetern stories as I dont accept Balkan stories.
Srebrenica is not a story, like others are not. Big shots have their interests there but also your leaders like Milosevic, Tudjman, Izetbegovic, Karadzic...
Balkanboy, do not be so sorry for GLP-ers, better be sorry for your people, your leaders and your priests like
It was Yugoslavia once and Tito, but you have chose yours nationalistics and religious leaders instead to be together.
Serbs say Croatians are invaders, Croatians say Serbs are invaders, Bosniaks say Serbs and Croatians are invaders, Shiptars say Serbs are invaders and so on.
"Lepa sela lepo gore", all of you was so proud when you was winners, only when things was going down there was SOOOOOOOOO much talkings about peace, justice and victims.
Yours football hords mentality is your mirror. Sorry. |

Balkan and Turkey are strategic teritory for Europe-Asia connection and transit. Its US vs RF, EU vs RF, West vs Islam, and there are so much ethnics and religious groups on relative small teritory. Balkan tribes are something like people in Darfur or native people of America. Someone who live in a teritory important for Big ones. Its like to be in a ghetto block, full of residents, but Big ones like - because of its value as real estate position - to crush it down and build a big Wall-mart centre. Got it? |
