There's always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way people can get on with their happy lives is that they Do... Not... Know about it! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 808056

You people are so retarded!
Even some sci fictions movies have better quality animated movies.
I can't believe you people fall for this obvious scam.

Anonymous Coward User ID: 177020 11/3/2009 4:42 AM | | Re: Nasa - UFO PICS on server. WHAT IS THIS THING? | Quote | 809173 has a good find. There, finally, the pictures can be correlated with a date (when they were captured). The descriptions all say "19981211 (YYYYMMDD)"
Now, with this data I tried to look around in the official mission status reports:
[link to science.ksc.nasa.gov]
(here is the overview for all days of the mission: [link to science.ksc.nasa.gov]
Or here, in a more compact form:
[link to www.thespaceplace.com]
Nowhere do I see them mentioning, that they lost (which happens often) or intentionally dumped some larger object at the 11th of December.
The only "interesting" such object could be the test of SAFER ( [link to en.wikipedia.org] which they mention for the 11th. |

They think it could have been in orbit for well over 12,000 years already. Which i guess is possible. You would think it's orbit would have decayed already.
its probably some long lost thing some aliens left here forever ago. Lets hope they come back for it!!
I wonder if NASA has investigated it |

Some working links now. Sorry about that. Looks like this UFO is morphing into an airplane. Something the aliens are doing to trick us at night. Check it out!!!

Puh-shaw!
Since when is Corellia in the "death ray" business? They make a mean ship... but death rays?
Although, I do agree.. its probably best if the "world at large" remained ignorant of threats to its' survival. However, I wish I could be in the know. --

I've seen the high res pictures before. It's space junk. It's rotating space junk, to be exact. Conservation of angular momentum; in space, a rotating object will continue rotating forever. |

I agree with rotation but the actual SHAPE of the object is changing. Each picture is a different OBJECT! If it were a round or triangle object and it was obvious - i would throw in the towel. But please don't tell me this is a rotating piece of space junk. The object is clearly changing shape and it almost defies all physics to me. |

Why is it spinning and moving so much? Isn't that a litle out of the ordinary for space? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 808995
You people are all idiots. Unbalanced debris will always start to tumble in orbit on its own due to the torque induced by gradients in the gravity of earth, and due to the lack of friction and conservation of angular momentum, it will continue rotating forever. Gravity gradient compensation is something EVERY satellite must account for:
[link to en.wikipedia.org]
Debris, of course, will not account for it and will start to tumble, often quite rapidly. |

No, the angle you're viewing the object at is changing and therefore you're seeing a different "shape" in a 2 dimensional picture and assuming it to be a completely different shape overall in 3 dimensional space.
If it were a round or triangle object Quoting: AC
It's asymetrical messy looking debris, round or triangle are not only not the only shapes it can assume, they're less likely than a complex and random shape. |

Sorry to let all of you alien spaceship believers down, but these are just loose floating pieces of trash in NASA's massive water pool, where they fake all of the Space-walks,
Also the photos where the items appear to just be sitting on top of the clouds, that is the loose trash that have just landed on the fake Earth models.
