Assyrian

The Assyrian Genocide was claimed to be committed against the Assyrian population of the Ottoman Empire during the First World War by the Young Turks. The Assyrian/Syriac population of northern Mesopotamia (Tur Abdin, Hakkari, Van, Siirt region in modern-day southeastern Turkey and Urmia region in northwestern Iran) was forcibly relocated and massacred by Ottoman (Turkish and Kurdish) forces between 1914 and 1920 under the regime of the Young Turks.

This genocide is considered to be a part of the same policy of extermination as the Armenian Genocide and Greek genocide. The Assyro-Chaldean National Council stated in a December 4, 1922, memorandum that the total death toll is unknown, but it estimates that about 275,000 "Assyro-Chaldeans" died between 1914–1918.


Greek

The Greek genocide is a term used by some academics to refer to the fate of the Greek population of the Ottoman Empire during and in the aftermath of World War I (1914-1923). Like Armenians and Assyrians, the Greeks were subjected to various forms of persecution including massacres, expulsions, and death marches by Young Turk and Kemalist authorities.


George W. Rendel of the British Foreign Office, among other diplomats, noted the massacres and deportations of Greeks during the post-Armistice period. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Ottoman Greeks may have died during this period as a result of these persecutions. Some estimates put the Greek death toll at 1.5 million.

As with all genocides, there is no clear consensus as to exactly how many Greeks perished as a result of Ottoman Turkey's genocidal program but it is generally accepted that approximately a million Greeks died during the period 1914-23 as a direct consequence of massacres and forced deportations. Contemporary studies include estimates which have ranged from 730,000 to 1,700,000.
