Which sharia law? There is no one version of it. Classical, traditional Islam? Women have right and are indeed considered free, and very mentally fit. Muhammad's first wife had the pants in that family, and they remember it.

I know little of this subject. The reason I post this is for understanding. If you read her piece it gives her view. To me she seems intelligent, and for my part I wonder when I see women looking through letter-boxes in their everyday life. Not trying to offend, just trying to understand.
