Why does a high gold price mean war?
fear. war is inevitable.
That still doesn't explain why they are linked. The fear is that there is not enough gold to fulfill contracts, not that there is going to be a war. Quoting: lime flavoured

You have no idea of what that means! The word "they" doesn't apply to the ordinary man/woman laying up for hard times. Think of the seven years of plenty and the seven years of famine. Joseph had it right. Of course, at the end of the day, he cleaned out the wealth of the Egyptians. Are we gonna see a rerun of this? What will you give for food to feed your children? Gold and any other thing of value, that's what.
The Bible tells us to look to the ant, which stores up food in the summer for the scarcity in winter. Go and do likewise. Hard time they are a comin'.

Well, I'm not an expert, but when for gold the dollar is
rising, this doesn't mean gold is getting more valuable.
On the contrary, the dollar is losing its worth. Because,
other currencies in respect for gold are stable, or not? |

900 has been the average for a long while now, and it dipped to about 700, so a top of 1100 seems about right.
If it was going to go higher, it would be higher already.
I've seen some ridiculous analytical statements in my time, but this one takes the cake.
2500-5000 would "seem about right" according to reality. It will get there, possibly as early as next year. Quoting: Siyoteam 809823

There is so much manipulation with future trading in the paper metal market, that "they" won't let the price go too high without leveling off or a slight pull back.
I agree that long term, gold will do well, but I have seen too much sleight of hand this last year and half to assume that the price evaluation in USD of gold or any other commodity is priced accurately. |

Usually, war means gold prices are going up. Like just after 9-11. I don't know of an instance of the reverse.

Exactly! TPTB have turned metals into Fiat. Gold and silver have no intrinsic value really. It is based on what one thinks has value and what another accepts as value. In a famine food is the value, If you are sick medicine or medical services is the value. When metal is manipulated it is fiat.
They won't allow metals to become commerce. They will not allow you to subscribe to your own commerce. They will require you to use their prescribed commerce by all means necessary.
Hold on loosely to your fiat and be ready to exchange it in a moment for the new fiat or something useful, that maybe even seed and a plow. |

It looks like the USD has went from 76.30 to 75.81, nearly a .5 drop in a day!
Gold is hitting resistance at $1,090 (but it did hit $1,096 earlier).
This is getting interesting. |

The Federal Reserve annunced it's sticking to it's near-zero interest rate. That announcement kicked the price of gold up a few more bucks.
According to the radio news report I heard, they plan to keep it that way for a while. That translates into more cotton candy money and higher gold prices.
Gold didn't permentantly gov above $1,000 until a month ago. It's already 9.5% higher in one month.
