Gold and silver. Where is it going?
Quote

I suspect that the powers that be are going to let a bit of panic set in and the price explodes up. Then when the second real estate collapse occurs some people will go to treasuries stregthening the dollar.

I think I will sell my gold coin at the end of the year at $1150. And buy it back at $900 in April 2010.

Who is with me?

You could be right, but it looks like the Cabal may have lost control in the physical market, so their paper-hanging operations won't have anything like the effect they used to have.

Heres the latest from Ted Butler

[link to www.investmentrarities.com]

In a speech yesterday, CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton outlined his thinking on the all-important showdown coming on the issue of position limits and hedge exemptions to those limits. In a related interview he reaffirmed the timeline of the showdown, said by him to be by late November. He expressed a fear that the Commission might set position limits too low and this might cause big traders to migrate away from regulated exchanges. This is a recurring, if ill-founded fear. In the interview (by Dow Jones), the CME Group added that it was “dismayed” that statements from the CFTC are, “already driving liquidity away.” (If there is one thing I think I know, it is that whenever a commodity exchange is dismayed, it is when the public’s interest is about to be served.) Here’s the actual speech

According to this Gold and Silver could have some massive moves in the next month. Up, Down, I dont know we will see.

With all of the overseas
physical buying going on how many more paper shorts can jp Morgan toss around to bring the price down?

Does anyone have statistics on the percentage of transactions in paper vs physical? And how that is changing from 2007-2009. That will hold the key if it is even possible for the price to dramatically come down again like it did in 2008.

I don't think they will ever come back down. I think it will get to be 1400 at the end of this year. When it reaches 1800 some time next year, then we are probably out of physical gold by then. The price will jump to god knows how much.

However, buying gold is a fantasy. You cannot possibly trade anything with gold. You need to turn that into fiat currency anyway. When credit default happens, you watch, they will default the gold price as well to accomodate the difference. They always do and DID.

We are just screwed. There are nothing much we can do to evade this madness. But you've been warned; and if you prepare whatever you can now to embrace the impact, then you might dodge the bullet a bit more than everybody else.

No explosive moves. May seem explosive but just higher a little at a time.

The real question is which will perform better, gold or silver?

It may well be silver.

Just on a basis of relative scarcity.

oh, and palladium will rise to at least a 1:2 relationship with platinum and stay there over the long haul, due to radical changes in the supply makeup.
