You still have to register hand guns. Also you must have a firearms license to buy any gun and/or ammo. There are also still safe storage laws. You must store guns and ammo separate properly locked up. (it keeps the kids safer).
I see the abolishment of the long gun registry as a nice thing for Hunters. Regardless it likely will not affect the crime rate at all since criminals tend to use handguns and assault style weapons.
The one thing it will do for sure is save money. The auditor general is out to lunch when she says 3 million a year. It probably be 10 times that anyways.
