I've bought from APMEX about 6X .
Fast delivery-I bought at 8-10-12 and 14. Don't know if I'd buy right now could be another pullback to 15.50-16 very easily.

1/2oz -100oz rounds and bars. So I have a nice collection for me and my kids.

have a ton of sterling at home.

I have bought silver coins from several different sources both on-line and locally the last few years starting when silver was about $7/oz.

I have found APMEX (American Precious Metals Exchange) to be a good on-line order source. Some of the others which have ads on radio or TV start having their reps call if you contact them, but not APMEX. Their prices are very good too and they ship promptly by USPS. That way if you are not at home to receive your order, it is returned to your local post office with a note so you can pick it up.

I've got into moving money into silver these last few months. Used ebay and NWT mint. Then I found a local coin shop and won't go any other way. I really like walking away with it, not having to wait on delivery. Prices are equal or less than ebay or direct from NWT mint(for the same 1oz bars) I've got a lot 90% (pre'64) silver coins (dimes to dollars)should a barter economy ever appear. And US mint coins & NWT bars as a store of money should the dollar crash. It is just insurance and I sleep better at night. Gold is just to high right now.

There: my $.02 fwiw

Go local with someone that you can trust.....cash only.

Stick with junk silver dimes, quarters, halves, dollars.

These silver coins are about 71% silver.

Currently, if you are selling 10 dollars face value junk silver coins, you will receive about $11.50 to 12.00 per one dollar silver. So, if you sold 10 Face silver, you would get back around 120 dollars.

Junk simply means there is no numistic value. Numistic means the coin perhaps has never been circulated or exposed to air. There is a big mark up for these.

In the above example.....selling 10 Face would mean selling approx. 7 oz. of silver. Silver is just above 17 per oz. So.....17 times 7 equals equals 119 dollars.

Do this calculation before going in the Coin Shop. If he then offers you approx. 119 dollars....you know that he is honest.

Coin Shops make their money when they sell you coins.

Look for approx. 10% markup upon purchase.

If you went in to buy 10 Face Silver......a fair price would therefore be 120 dollars plus approx. 12 dollars....or 132 dollars.

You are protecting your hard earned savings by doing this. I accumulated many silver coins in the 1990's for around 4 dollars per oz.

The main thing to remember is that the value remain approx. steady over long periods of time.....whereas the govt. steals from you if you have paper investments through inflation, devaluations, etc.

Rent in 1933 in a rural town was about 19 dollars per month. Gold was about 30 dollars per oz. Two thirds of an ounce of gold would have paid for 30 days rent.....about the same as today. Two thirds of $1190 is approx. $800....modern day rent in a rural town.

Think privacy when purchasing.....as the government would probably like to know if you are accumulating precious metals. Go local and pay for it in cash.
