Stossel tells only parts of the story. How many subsidies does the USGov pay, and how much? What are the insurance companies doing to save money...or KEEP money they took in premiums? Remember the bit posted here at GLP about the people in the insurance industry whose only job was to DENY applications for health care outright? Sure, it's all driven by "capitalism," but how much of the care is being meted out to the people who actually pay for it, and how much of the "denial" money is given to the shareholders?

I'm sorry I watched the video but I think it was nothing more then propaganda.. Yes people come to America to get cutting edge heath care.. They are the RICH people that have money.. As Americans you're being raped by your insurers, being charged astromonical prices for simple things like gauze, tape, steri-strips etc. My brother had to get a few stitches when he was at university of maine, cost him like 600 bucks. BUT in Canada, I broke my arm 2 years ago, it cost me nothing, I didn't wait, and I got the best care possible, in your system...it would have been 10K. The video is a LIE. John Stossel says "in canada you'll wait 6 months for treatment" thats only if you're low priority IE based on a Dr.'s assessment, otherwise its immediate. Waiting 6 months for a elective treatment is WAY better than having to pay 100K for the same treatment. Additionally, the "medical innovations" described in the video most people on this forum couldn't afford anyways. IF you were smart, you'd support your president in his fight for healthcare reform, so you could have universal health care like every other g7 nation. Part of the reason why as a nation you're so broke is your health care premiums. Watch SICKO. I know you all think Micheal Moore is a shill, but he has more $$ than you do. HE doesn't have to give a rats ass, but he loves his country and the people in it, don't ask me why.
