Why title the movie 2012 when they can make a doomer movie showing all kinds of worldwide calamities without tying them to a particular date? This is a warning to people that 2012 is something to be concerned about and best to be aware of it years before it happens. BTW, 2012 is six years after June 6, 2006 or 6/6/6 Events leading up to 2012 had already begun back in 2006 but few people were aware of them. |

No, it's called making cash on irrational baseless fears. Lots of cash. Who seriously thinks a studio that just bought a script for a blockbuster movie is going to sit on it for 3 years just so they can release it at the same time that it's shown to be based on BS? Do you have any idea what that would do to DVD sales? Releasing it ASAP gives them more lead time to sell the DVD/Blueray, etc, while the hype for the event is still hot. People like you only help them hype it.
If I were really evil I'd cash in on the hype myself. Everyone jumps at the slightest error in google sky as it is, what would they do if an amateur astronomer came forward with impossible-to-verify-or-refute evidence of an approaching threat? Just look at how many followers Texas Uncensored and Candace have attracted, and they don't even try to directly tie their easy-to-refute garbage to 2012.

This movie wasn't conceived as a money making project, heck, it cost $200 million to make and its not even likely to make that back at the box office. This movie is more of a public service announcement. Probably the only way they could announce something like this. I won't be suprised if it was financed with CIA slush funds.
If you have been aware of things that have been happening since 2006, on a personal level, as I have, you'll see the reason for this movie at this time. Others will think its just another doom movie. |
