I get it...we are screwed.
I also get that our money is not safe in banks.
However, money, specifically dollars are the most liquid form of asset and trade we have.
So what's the alternative?
Yeah, I hear about investing in gold all the time, but gold is not liquid to the point where you can use it at the grocery store. The dollar, however weak it is, is the only way to accumulate goods.
How can we protect ourselves if the means of exchange is teetering on the brink?
Maybe....exchange dollars for Euro's at a trading center and just hold them until the smoke clears?

I think about that every time I produce one of these...
I have no idea.

Well, they seized that in the past...

I have no answer as to "what to do" to protect yourself... that's why I add "as you see fit"...

I agree with every point you make and see that you have a very good insight into the financial mess we are in.
It just seems that there is no way out.
For example, my circumstance is this. I have a small mortgage with Fifth Third Bank (25000)
I also keep some savings in there (Almost enough to cover mortgage, but not quite.
If Fifth Third goes under, what happens to my mortgage and savings?

At the time of this writing (October 31, 2009, 1 Ben) we are towards the end of the sixth day, the period of flowering in the process from seed to mature fruit in the Galactic Wave Movement, which precedes the sixth night. For the last 2weeks I've been asking small business owners about there rents/leases. The over welling reply was that in 2010 when thier leases are up, they will either renogotiate, move to a lower rent, or close thier doors.
I sense a commercial realestate bubble by March 2010 |
