There needs to be some kind of testing method and singed agreement administered by all military branches to ALL military personnel regarding their religious preference and if it will effect their ability to do their jobs.
Although expensive, this should be done every two years to update records and see where potential risks may be. If you are Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or Buddhists or even atheist and can not fulfill your obligation you should be DEALT with. Search For ANYONE In America..Its Free!

I don't think any devout Religious person should be Allowed In The United States Military.
Military is a Religion
you can't believe in two religions and serve two Gods at the same time.
the result is only FAIL

Re: Should Devout Muslims Be Allowed In The United States Military?
That is a tuff question. A big part of me says "NO". Wouldn't that be akin to us locking up all the Japaneese families during ww2? Whatever the terrorists are trying to do, if we respond in fear, won't that just fuel the flames and encourage them more?
That being said, I feel sorry for the guys that are muslims and in the service. They better sleep with one eye open. It sucks to be them.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 272605
why feel sorry for them? They don't feel sorry for the 12 servicemen dead or their families.
We need to stop being such panty waists in this country.
I'm not coming back to read this site for a while... every time I do there's lots of pinned threads like these. It just makes me sick to my stomach.
Well sorry, Princess.
Peace is an unobtainable goal. It's NEVER going to happen as long as humans are running the show.
Yes we're cruel, yes we're WRONG.. but nothing is going to stop man from making war on other men.
That's just the fucked up way we are.
I wish it could all be rainbows and butterflies too, but that's not reality.
Sorry.
Quoting: j. 811734
Agree with you, we all want peace, we all want people to get pass the violence. But to just sit back and let the people who are violent continue on with their deeds is NOT the answer. Does violence beget violence? Yes. But what these tree hugger liberals don't understand is that you CANNOT just talk your way to peace.
I am afraid? No, I'm not afraid, I'm mad. I'm mad that once again someone violated our trust. We peacefully trust people to do the right thing then they turn around and screw you. Is that fear? No.
So to all those who are so "enlightened" and "above the fear mongering" looking down their collective noses at the reaction to this incident...get over it. Are all muslims terrorists? No. But the vast majority of terrorists are muslims.
For all those that berate Americans, I don't start fights and will try to avoid conflict but you bring a fight to me I don't back down, I stand my ground.

Re: Should Devout Muslims Be Allowed In The United States Military?
I guess thats the same as asking if devout Zionists should be in Wall Street?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 775790
HA HA that's so funny-- and painfully on target. Now if only that nutzoid Muslim army guy had gone on his little rampage in certain buildings on Wall Street, lots of people in this country would be calling him a hero.

Re: Should Devout Muslims Be Allowed In The United States Military?
Just because there is some propaganda going behind the scene to create an artificial enemy in order to conquer the world, doesn't mean that most Muslims are humble, peaceful persons.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 811077
Yeah, peaceful. Think I'll go right out and hug a few, maybe invite them out for pork chops or something. I'm sure this guy was peaceful until his ideals overrode his logic and turned him into a martyr.

I shudder to think what the response would be if the shooter was black and had shouted "black power" before opening fire...
Would you all be calling for the removal of African Americans from the military?

No, not all black people (BTW where/what are African Americans, were they born in Africa and emigrated to the US?). The point of this thread is that radical extremists of any religion such as those who believe in Black Liberation Theology (in context to your post); perhaps start looking at Rev. Wright's parishioners?

I also think at this point any muslims currently serving in the US military during this war time should be discharged.

Yes, hard core radical Christian fundamentalists should also be removed.

You can't kick someone out just because of a religious belief. You really want that precedent established?
He should have been discharged just on the basis of the poor evaluation at Walter Reed. One report said that authorities were "watching him" because of verbal comments and internet postings. So why did they wait to act, hmm?
There are Muslims who really do believe in peace. Then there are radical Muslims who believe that they should kill people and establish Islam all over the world. It is ethically wrong to treat both groups equally - whether it's treating the latter with respect or treating the former with persecution.

Non-American born should NOT be in our military OR our government. No matter the creed, culture, religion, color, etc. Come to think of it, non-American born should not be allowed to buy property here, either.

Re: Should Devout Muslims Be Allowed In The United States Military?
So we remove gays, Muslims, zealous Christians, blacks... who else do you want to remove from our already strained military ranks?
How about we stop trying to establish control over the whole fucking globe, HMM? How bout we stop pissing people off all over the fucking world by sending our military into their country, killing civilians and telling them what to do?
I believe in a strong DEFENSE. DEFENSE does not mean spreading out an empire, nation building, and policing the world.
And to the above poster who said that the Muslims struck first w/9/11... FALSE. We've been over there for a long fucking time.
