Looking back 2008..I realize what a tremendous change it had been in my lifestyle, particularly my financial situation and spending behavior.

Back in the days, branded items matter a lot to me. I spend a lot "to be seen", went clubbing often and booked VIP rooms just to impress friends. I also hung out with people who love to be seen and love to impress. I bought many items, mostly branded and was way more high maintained than I am today.

Someone special in my life contributed a lot towards this positive behavior modification. Him being a simple man that enjoys nature, it took me awhile to appreciate the beauty of simplicity together with him.

Now I mostly cook from scratch, seldom go clubbing, seldom meet up with the old gang anymore and basically change my direction. My interests are just not the same anymore. I have new friends and pursue further education, I just finished a degree this year (yay) and have a way different outlook on life.

It's hard to imagine way back then that I will be in this position now. But I am happy. How many of you here on GLP also have undergone tremendous change in your spending and financial lifestyle these past few years? How do you cope with that?

Now, I am indulging in blogs and sites discussing frugal lifestyle and simplicity. One very interesting and motivating site you can visit, if you are interested in simplicity lifestyle is www.zenhabits.net I learned a lot from there.

Do I regret this? No. I learned new things and I'm glad to take this route, for the different perspective it offers and for the new outlook on life. I feel so blessed.
