Keep in mind that November 8, is the beginning of the 6th night in the Mayan calender, a time traditionally filled with great strife and suffering. So, I'd be more willing to believe this than other predictions.

It's possible the global *reserve* usage portion of our currency is officially replaced with SDRs, while domestically the usage of the dollar does not immediately change in any meaningful way.
With the obvious impact that anything imported will increase in the number of dollars / unit.

Crude has been trying to explain this to the public, but so far they have not gotten a clue. Crude strength is being called a hedge against the dollar as fundamental energy analysts are hard pressed to explain a rise from $30 into the $70s with NO pick up in US economic activity and NO massive draw down on supplies. The oil price is an example of the arcane and exoteric mechanism of hyperinflation soon to take gold to $1224, $1650 and then on to Alf and Armstrong's numbers.
This phenomenon is something that the murderous Children of the Corn that run the hedge funds will not accept until it happens.

I agree that this weekend could be the end of the dollar, but more than likely, the members of the G20 will concur on a date in the very near future. Say sometime in January? Furthermore, the upcoming shopping season doesn't really have much to do with the crash when it happens. The U.S. doesn't determine the value of our currency, the world markets do. Finally, practically everything is manufactured abroad. Under the current financial circumstances, if you were a foreign manufacturer, wouldn't you want to sale your products in a different currency other than the dollar right now? I would. |

It's already happening. India made a serious move to the FRN exit door this week with it's massive purchase of gold in tons.
Wait till one of the big boys like China or Japan make a move in that direction, see how fast the exit door gets clogged up.
Everyone else left behind in the crowded theater gets burned alive.

The Sri Lankan central bank is buying gold to diversify its reserves and smooth out periods of dollar volatility, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, central bank governor, said.
The move, which follows India's gold purchase, is part of a policy change on the part of the bank.
"We did experience this huge currency volatility during the time of the crisis that gave us the feeling that we need to save in something more solid," Mr Cabraal told the Financial Times. "Naturally gold crops up as the more logical item."
He did not reveal the size of the purchases, which analysts said were about five tonnes, far below India's 200-tonne purchase.
Mr Cabraal described the buying as "fairly substantial?.?.?.?We?have not stopped accumulating it".
Jonathan Spall, a director at Barclays Capital, said: that, while Sri Lanka might be a minnow in terms of the gold it may buy, it was another argument "in the case being built for gold".
