All American’s, not just the rich, deserve to have access to health care.
For 15 years, we haven’t had reform. During the Bush administration, the Republicans did NOTHING to fix our broken system of health care. All he did was put us into a war which was NOT justified, there were no weapons of mass destruction. And he did it because he knew there were no terrorists, he knew the towers came down by controlled demolition.
100 years ago health care was between you and your doctor. We need to get rid of all of our Insurance companies for health care who try to dictate what you and your doctor decide. We need to get back to preventative health care and not health care driven by Drug company monopolies who just want to force drugs on us.

Yep but even that is scary given that so many seem to really think it is going to be free! So many would buy the talking points and not read the bill at all.

Who are you calling kettle? How many pages did you read? I stopped when I learned that they would not post the thousand pages of amendments created behind closed doors.
I have less than 200 pages remaining.
This whole GOP ploy of stacking of copies of legislation and bringing them to the floor has become so trite. It's double-spaced single-sided legislative text. Get your staff together and just read the damn thing and stop with the juvenile tactics.
Well, another massive amount was added late last night so no way have you read that.
No one can have in the amount of time allotted but then that's the idea.

You know, people say the American health system as it is is total bullshit and is bad. But you know what I live in Canada and have had health issues for years and our "Great" health system here is so bad that it takes my 1 year to see a specialist to find out whats wrong.
So instead of using the shit system we have here in Canada, instead I drove down into the states, spent some money and got real answers in just 1 week.

That's what I've been thinking too. But the Democrats don't know how to do anything except this way, by taking a whole lot of our money and then doling it back out in dribs and drabs after creating a huge bureacracy of slow lazy gov't workers to process everything, as slowly and inefficiently as possible.
Luckily the Republicans have kept this at bay for a long time, but it's too bad the Republicans didn't take some of the slower steps they are now recommending, while they were in power and before now so that it didn't have to come to this now with the Democrats in majority. |

Exactly. we may not have to pay all the time for things, but you know what we pay with "time". It takes insane amounts of time to see anyone. That stems from the fact that our doctors up here are paid like shit, so instead of staying here they move to the states for better pay.
Our health system is so underfunded and understaffed it's stupid.
If they paid the doctors here in Canada the same amounts as they did in the States, I bet our system would actually work like it is supposed to.

The reason this bill sucks so bad is because the conservatives are too stupid to see that single-payer (like Canada) is a GOOD thing, one that actually puts people before profit. So the conservatives (as usual) lined up against their own interests, based on Limbaugh lies, and helped the insurance companies get everything they wanted out of this bill. Well if the system here in canada would be implemented properly and our doctor paid properly I think our health system would actually be very good. Problem is the Government does not want to pay the doctors proper pay, so they simpley leave and we get a shortage.
the shortage of doctors is what causes the long waits here in Canada.

Are system is not all it is made out to be. We have no doctors here. Our waits for doctors (specialists in particular) is pathetic.
Let me put it this way a little while ago i posted how i had to go to the states to get some answers to a medical issue i was having.
If i would have waited for the doctors here in Canada. I'd be dead right now, so no it's not all it is cracked up to be. If our government would grow the fuck up and pay our doctors properly I think our problems here in canada with health care would be alot lower.
In principal our system is great, it's just run by idiots who brains are stcuk on stupid.

The 2% profits the insurance companies make are going to be absolutely nothing compared to the waste and fraud in a government run plan.
Obama says there are billions and billions of fraud in Medicare alone. So now we will have trillions and trillions in waste and fraud and inefficiency because the government always does.
I'd rather the insurance companies make a reasonable profit than the government totally screw it up.
See how they have handled swine flu vaccine for example of government corruption at work. Now our whole healthcare will be handled like this. Some joker forgot to order enough in time even on a damned flu vaccine and yet we should trust them with our lives? |
