This looks a bit weird. If it was because of the SOHO camera, the ships would show a "spinn effect" as well, but they dont. [link to picturepush.com] [link to sohodata.nascom.nasa.gov]

There is another identical dash at approximately the west end of the equator at OP's second link. Are you guys sure these are not simply hash marks or something from a photograph? Some kind of hiccup in the transmission between satellite and Earth?
