Can My Girlfriend Claim Compensation??

Hey GLP people,

I don't know where else to ask this as most sites I've looked at either charge you or just don't answer it. This happned in the U.K by the way. Last Thursday my girlfriend was in work, she works in a confectionary selling sausage rolls, pasties and stuff. Now it was her and some other girl who works there, the other girl was in the back of the shop putting money into a safe. Three hooded guys walked in, one jumped over the counter and choked my girlfriend and slammed her back into a fridge asking where the money was. Being scared she shouted her co-worker, when the guy realised there was another person there he grabbed her by the neck, marched her toward the co-worker, then threw the both of them into some chairs there. He made off with £800+, my girlfriend then ran to the front and closed the shutters (which took about 20 seconds) then called the police.

Do you guys know if she can claim compensation? I think she can for the following reasons:
* There was only two members of staff there
* There are no security cameras or any plastic glass above the counter ( there is in other shops, but not this one because it hadn't been robbed before)
* There are NO doors on the front of the shop, only shutters. So the guys could have came back while they were going down.
* She is now afraid whilst in work, she was told to go in the next day because it would show them they haven't won. She was told the night before there would be six members of staff which included a security person & the area manager who would be on site all day. The security person was there for an hour max. and the area manager was around for ten minutes.
* Today she went into a different shop and was terrified working in there, kids robbed merchandise, hooded people coming in etc.

What do you guys think?

The thing is, I don't think they seem too bothered about it. This shop she works for is a chain and has stores that have been robbed many times over the years. She wants to get the employer for putting her safety at risk. Alls the police have to go by is the description, as there were no cameras.

If she didn't complain about this at the time (ie. report her concerns to her line-manager), then it's unlikely that she'll be able to sue the firm.

Criminal Injuries Compensation is more likely IMO.
