seriously.....with this country in the shitter, people out of work who've exhausted their unemployment benefits/extensions, millions homeless, and those on social security who will have increases in their medicare which will result in a decrease in benefits - do they have the balls to vote themselves a pay raise?
we should start emailing/faxing now.

Even today, the Soviet Union still cannot feed itself. . . . East and West do not distrust each other because we are armed; we are armed because we distrust each other. And our differences are not about weapons but about liberty. . . . Do they have the balls? No.
Will they anyhow? Yes.
As our government has shown, they lack balls. They lack intelligence, they lack common sense, wit, brains, etc. But they want power. And they will do anything in thier power to keep themselves in office and making money. We have about 400 or more Emperor Palpatines in our Government, and all of them could be elected out if we just didn't have an army of Jar-Jar Binks' voting them back...
Yes, I just made a star wars connection, sue me. |

That's one of the problems on why states are facing budget shortfalls, it's the legacy cost. Along with the generous benefits you retired with, yet individuals that do retire from the public sector believe they have earned it?
The hell with the private sector as long as the public sector is entitled to the retirement and benefits. I honestly believe if you retire at a pension of a $1,000.00 dollars a month, THAT IS IT. No cola's, nothing period.
I believe that unemployed individuals would love a job, much less a pension. I see it all of the time, couple friends have retired after working 30 years for a local government. One is 49 and the other is 51 years old, no need to work since they are living off the tax payers dime.
here is what all forms of Government should make mandatory, you retire after 30 years, but not yet 59 1/2 tough, you cannot start drawing your pension until you reach the age of 59 1/2.
Let's hear it, waiting for the attacks. I imagine that 90% of the private sector pensions are history, yet I have not seen or read any article stating the same for any government pension. |

Then you don't think the argument that public sector employees don't make as much as private sector, and therefore are compensated for that by their pension plans, has any merit? |

If it was promised, then it should be honored! I feel terrible for all the people that thought they could retire and then find they can't because they were legally robbed. I especially hate that veterans that were promised care and other things sometimes can't get it because they changed the rules after one has served their country. I don't understand how anyone thinks this is okay. If it can't continue, it should be for the new people so they can plan. Not for people who have already lived most of their life that have been promised benefits. |
