seriously .....lets say you bring the largest oxygen tank you can carry .....

what would happen if you just open'd the valve?

would it just shoot off into space?

would it be colorless?

In my estimation it would disappear in the vacuum.

Yes, but not enough. If the moon was completely still it would be enough to hold an atmosphere in place, but it's not.

It does but no atmosphere for the oxygen to stay within.

Atmosphere building takes lots of water. Most will be lost to space but if enough in introduced all at once it is possible.
Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support!

I am a retired astronaut. I know what happens when you let a little methane and hydrogen sulfide out up there.

Well, my everyday life doesn't involve rocket science, or physics. I don't give a fuck about the moon.

What is in it for you to bring oxygen to the moon? How will you personally benefit from it? What is the point of it? Why would GLP'ers know anything about it?

Don't give yourself so much credit. You started this thread to get attention and to insult people that don't want to play your little game. This thread is ridiculous and you actually are a moron.

I can manage just fine.

BTW the way, learn some proper grammar and present an intelligent theory or argument and you might get "smarter" answers. You are putting change in out pockets and are forcing us to count it for you. Try harder.

You would double possibly triple the moons atmosphere.

The Moon does technically have an atmosphere, it is on par to a tank of air across is whole surface - maybe a little more.

The moon does not have a strong enough gravity field and magnetic field to protect its "atmosphere" from solar wind. solar winds would eventually blow the gasses off the surface of the moon into interplanetary (between the planets of the solar system) space, and continue to blow it eventually into interstellar (between the stars) space.

Mars is suffering a similar fate. At one time in the distance past Mars had a liquid metal core that spun. It is the liquid metal spinning in a planet that produces its magnetic field. Once the magnetic field drops it allows solar particles to 'scrub' or 'sand blast' the upper atmosphere away.

Mars being larger than the moon has a stronger gravity field that will retain the gasses longer, however Mar's atmosphere is at 'triple point' where it is dense enough that water theoretically could exist in all three states (liquid, solid, vapor).

For the moon: If we could generate its maximum atmosphere that it could hold (due to gravity) The moon would hold on to it for a few thousand up to ten thousand years.

For Mars: If we could generate its maximum atmosphere hat it could cold, Mars atmosphere would stick around for a few ten thousand years.

The moon can not hold enough atmospheric pressure to sustain life as we know it. Mar's can, however it would 'quickly' lose its atmospheric pressure in about 5 to 8 thousand years and become inhabitable again.
