My backyard is full of these things you speak of. Sometimes the dog brings them back, otherwise they do not return. We use them for kindling on the fire.

Well, a large non returning boomerang is a stick. Maybe you are looking for something along the lines of a sling shot or wrist rocket I think they are called.

Bill, it's actually a bit of a myth that aboriginals always used returning boomerangs. 90% of the time it was the types that had one half of the 'rang about twice the length of the other side. Basically they were throwing axes and lopsided.
Don't ask me about the length, what about the width.
