The opposite of the "sheep": just as unhealthy
This site and probably all other sites revolving around conspiracy-like themes are infested with them: the fundamentalistic opposite pole of the brainwashed sleeping sheep

The conspiracy nut, who has the unhealthy tendency to compulsively find a conspiracy everywhere. Read the currently pinned thread about obama mispronouncing his daughters name for some striking examples:
Thread: Obama mispronounces his daughters name!

Compulsively seeing everything as a conspiracy is just as unhealthy as compulsively seeing everything your government and the MSM throw at you as truth. Find the middle road people, don't let your thinking be enslaved in any way...

Maybe it's about people who have simply woken up to all the proven lies. Could it be that simple or is that a conspiracy as well, you know, people learning about how the TV, Radio and Newspapers have been lying to them for nearly 80+ years.

Long live the Internet and open discussion!

Looking for conspiracies everywhere will grant you truth when there actually is a conspiracy, but blind you to the truth that's not a conspiracy. Being fast asleep will enable you to see the truth when there actually is truth, but you'll be blind to any deception going on.

But in neither case you'll know which is which, and neither case enables you to see what's really going on.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

It's that simple, people are learning to be skeptical about everything they see and hear and I for one, believe that's a great thing.

Oh yeah, the economy is getting better, but don't tell that to the unemployed, because it's a new JOBLESS recovery! lol

Well, the cases I'm referring to are those that feel an existentialistic urge to find conspiracies in everything that has only a remote possibility to be evidence of something like that. Those that somehow need conspiracies. Those that present their "evidence" in a very excited and matter of fact way, withouth leaving any room for another interpretation.

Well then, that distinction can placed on both ends of the spectrum. You know, the liars who say anything to cover up the truth!

Well, we probably have a different idea of what the spectrum is then (or at least enter it from a different side), but I was aiming in response to your post at the difference between seeing something and thinking "hmm, there might be something wrong here", and enthusiastically grasping every opportunity to look for another conspiracy

The difference between "I don't believe anyone anymore" and "I don't believe anyone anymore except every conspiracy site"

The difference between seeing a conspiracy and wanting a conspiracy

Get my drift?

Like I said, you will always have extreme views and motivations from people, but to say that NOT being a sheep is unhealthy is absolute non-sense.

I did not say that, I said that being the polar-opposite of sheep is unhealthy. If being a sheep is -1, NOT being a sheep can be anything ranging from 0 to +1. My aim is at the people residing around the "+1" side of the spectrum.

Maybe a better way to put it is that swallowing conspiracy theories too easily is being as much of a sheep as swallowing what the MSM feeds you. In both cases you swallow what you're fed with little or no rational thought, and believe what you believe not based on evidence but rather on what seems like the most fun, or most comfortable thing.

That's a much higher perspective than this thread was intended for, but I agree with you. At least, as long as one does something with the experience gained (unless you want to raise the perspective even higher of course, but that's for another thread :p).

Experience both poles and try to always make an effort to remain in the center, that's the only place where you can find truth

Let me put it to you this way. Anyone that blindly follows anyone or anything is NOT healthy in any sense of the word.

You we're given a brain to rationalize and think with. Being a sheep has no benefits but to those in control of you.

Add this for completeness (these ones are quite common too and the toughest cases I think):
Or on some vague existentialistic feeling based on using conspiracies to give your empty life meaning
