Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?
Quote

Every often when I look into my cats eyes, he will look over my shoulder with an intense stare as if someone is standing behind me. Once, when I was lying on my sofa with the cat on my chest, I looked into his eyes and he stared really intensely right above my head towards the doorway behind me. Suddenly he gets up in a defending posture, still looking up glaring right above my head while on my chest, then bolts across the room under the table. I can also almost feel some sort of presence in the room when this happens. Anyone else experienced a similar situation?

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

My dog is often tuned into something I just don't get. I'll just talk to her a bit, like 'waddya see' 'waddissit.' Last night we were taking a walk around a different neighborhood and got so far and she did a dead stop and a quick about face. I just let here take the lead. Sometimes you just have to trust them. It was feeling a little thin last night.

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

Yes, the cats I had at the time I lived in a 'haunted' house often intently watched unseen things move through the rooms.

The only manifestation of this ghost (whom I believe was the old lady that died in the house-quite harmless) was hearing her walk through the rooms of the tiny house.

You could hear the tick, tick, tick of her feet over the old linoleum, nothing like the sound of an old house 'settling' during temperature changes that so often sound like hauntings.

The only thing my dogs react to are live people that are of dubious character...always trust your pet over a stranger.

Not sure about ghosts, but my dog was staring at something in the kitchen the other evening. I quickly got my camera and did photograph and orb. Could have been a co-inky-dinky... who knows, but I honestly did "feel" something/someone. Not a bad feeling by any means. :-)

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

Absolutely - my husband and I used to live in a very haunted house. Whatever was there liked to play with the cats, and they also didn't like it when I would vacuum.

I would see tiny pops of light in the air in the hallway, and the cats would bat at them and try to chase them. That confirmed for me that I wasn't hallucinating.

Also, in the house where we live now, I got out of the shower and was getting dressed when one of my cats began acting really agitated growling and looking into the master bedroom. So I looked where she was looking and a faceless entity dressed in a white/red embroidered cape (he had a head and shoulder-length gray/white hair but no facial features) was floating very fast across the room right into where I was standing. I felt a cold wave of air go through as he entered the bathroom and then disappeared.

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

One time we were sitting at the back door, which is a french door, and the door was open. The dog came trotting along, on its way outside and then came to a screeching halt, (skidded on the tile even) and looked up, as if looking at something or someone that had just came in the door. My husband said, "what just walked in"? It was so weird.
This house, (we don't live there anymore) we were convinced it was on some kind of vortex of spiritual energy or something. There were always weird noises and all kinds of activity going on.

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

oh yes. My animals see things all the time. I have so many stories.
My current dog will look down the upstairs hallway and just start barking and growling. I get up and look and no one is there but he can see something I cant. This happens on occasion.

When I was younger, I had a cat who would see something underneath the living room table. The cat would look towards the table, jump down off of the couch and run to the table and just stand right in front of it. He would stare at something under the table and growl at it. As far as I was concerned, I could not see anything, but he did see something.

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

Yep. Cats are pretty tuned in... I've seen kittens chasing and jumping to catch things I couldn't see... Obvious they were actually after something too, not just 'play' stalking.

Also lived in a house that had occasional visitors. The dog would hackle up and get all nastified, though I didn't see a thing. He'd follow it around and, suddenly as begun, stop and lay around on alert for a while. Didn't happen often, but it sure gave me the creeps when it did.

The house my daughter used to live in had a ghost dog. They would hear it in other parts of the house while their dog was laying beside them. Sometimes the two dogs, (living & ghost) would play together. The ghost dog was about the same size as their dog (a siberian husky), and they saw them play tag and chase each other around.

It was very chilling, almost like I was overwhelmed with dread

Years ago I saw a tall, bright, flickering white light to my left in my living room. I thought I had imagined it, then looked over at my cat, and he was standing, eyes wide, hair on his back up, staring at the same spot where the light had been.

Yes. My cats especially.

I'd freak out if my dog alerted on an empty room. I think my dog sees my old dog. He acts as if another dog is smelling his butt.

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

When my husband and I would sit and watch t.v. our dogs would come up and lay their head in my husbands lap. He'd sit there and pet their heads and scratch their ears the whole time.

After he died I would notice a depression in the leather couch as if someone was sitting there right where my husband used to sit. Then the dogs would come up and lay their heads in that spot and I could see their fur moving as if someone was petting them.

We had a long hallway and there was often a light orb that would bounce around and the cat would chase it and try to catch it.

You bet they can see spirits!

I used to have a golden retriever that would growl and stare at nothing I could see.

I have a fox terrier who gets excited and stares up towards the ceiling or wall. On two of those occasions she snarled and showed her teeth. I believe she is seeing something. There are times when I'm working at the kitchen counter I get the feeling that someone is standing over my shoulders. It will also lightly play with the hair on the top of my head.

scared her so bad she refused to let me carry her out of the bathroom into the hallway.
I decided to wait with her in there until she was willing to walk out on her own.

Re: Has your Pet ever seen a Ghost?Quote

Oh yeah, I used to live in a very haunted house. My cat would sit on the spiral staircase where there was a cold spot and just yowl and yowl at me about the ghost. I knew it was there, too, but there wasn't a lot I could do about it...I even brought out shamans to clear it out, but to no avail. Strangely enough, when I moved from there I wound up next door to the man that is suspected of killing the lady who haunted the house. The cat hated him...and I sometimes wonder if the kitty had gotten some 'inside info' on this jerk from the ghost.

That's some really bad luck. Another interesting topic though, how very unlikely coincidences happen to people much, much more than you would statistically expect. I bet allot of people know exactly what that's like(I mean strange coincidences, NOT moving next door to a suspected murderer who killed his wife in my old house flush ).

I've seen cats act this way and have heard an explanation for it that sounds very plausible which is that cats are unable sometimes to differentiate between memories and current events.

Animals can see into the spirit realm.
