Doughnut shop robbed and employees forced to remove pants at gunpoint; unbelievably, police were nowhere to be found
Workers Forced To Disrobe In Doughnut Shop Robbery
Police Go Through Store Surveillance Tape

INDIANAPOLIS -- Two employees were forced to take off their pants during a robbery at a doughnut shop in a busy part of downtown early Friday morning.

The robbery happened at the Dunkin Donuts at the corner of Washington and Pennsylvania streets at about 5:15 a.m., 6News' Julie Pursley reported.

The employees, a male and a female, told police that two men came into the store right as the workers arrived for the morning and were getting ready for a shipment.

"We got here and found that the two employees were still down in the basement, where they were left," said Indianapolis police Lt. Mike Elder. "They advised us that these two men came in with guns. They were wearing masks and put them down in the basement, took the money and left."

Investigators said the robbers apparently made the employees remove their pants so they wouldn't give chase when the men left.

The robbers were able to get into the safe and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officials were reviewing surveillance tapes in hopes that they have pictures of the men.

The robbers were dressed in all black, with black masks, black gloves and hooded coats, Indianapolis police Sgt. Matt Mount said.

"If you have to go out and rob a Dunkin Donuts, you really need a life," said resident Leslie Simmons. "You're putting others in harm. You're not thinking about the community. You're thinking about yourself."

Police said armed robberies are not common at businesses downtown.

"I just can't believe that people do this downtown so close to where all the police department people live," said customer Karen Lawson.

I went to a doughnut shop in New Orleans. There were so many police cars, I couldn't find a parking space.

I bet dollars to donuts officials will find holes in
this case because the robbers left a trail of crumbs
and sprinkles back to the station.
