Commander Stresses Iran's Ability to Shoot Down Israel's F15, F16 Fighters

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) here on Sunday warned of Tehran's crushing response to any potential attack on the country, stating that Iran enjoys the required defensive capability to bring down Israel's advanced military aircrafts.

"Be sure that in case of any aggression, the Zionists' F15 and F16 aircrafts will be trapped by our air defense and will be destroyed," Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said.

"And if one of their aircraft manages to escape Iran's air defense - before it can land - the bases from which these aircraft have taken off will be struck by our destructive ground-to-ground missiles," the Commander said in a reaction to Israelis growing war rhetoric against Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

"The Zionists may initiate such a war, but undoubtedly its end will depend on our will," Hajizadeh noted.

The comments came as the Iranian Armed Forces on Sunday started a series of wargames to enhance preparedness of nuclear sites' air defense units for confrontation against possible enemy attacks.

Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Ahmad Miqqani said yesterday that the countrywide exercises, codenamed 'Modafean-e (Defenders) Aseman-e-Velayat 2', are to be conducted in three stages for five days.

Speculation that Israel could bomb Iran mounted since a big Israeli air drill last year. In the first week of June, 2008, 100 Israeli F-16 and F-15 fighters reportedly took part in an exercise over the eastern Mediterranean and Greece, which was interpreted as a dress rehearsal for a possible attack on Iran's nuclear installations.

Meantime, a last year study by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), a prestigious American think tank, has found that a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities "is unlikely" to delay the country's program.

I think they have pretty good air defence missiles. Whether they could actually do much against a concerted attack I dunno.

bump for pin.

Debka reckons that, without the S-300s, Iran won't be able to protect its nuclear sites from attack (Iran has the Russian-made Tor-M 1, but that won't do much good on the whole):

Lacking the crucial S-300, a senior Revolutionary Guards officer was reduced to threatening: "If Israel attacks Iran, Iranian missiles will explode in the heart of Tel Aviv!"

Iranian strategists are trying to make do with four devices:

1. As many nuclear installations as possible are being moved to secret subterranean sites - among them most of the research laboratories working on the development of nuclear weapons and missiles.

2. Bogus installations have been planted not far from genuine plants to mislead assailants.

3. Tehran's most powerful defense is the deterrent strength of its ballistic missiles and the missiles distributed to its Middle East allies, Syria, the Lebanese Hizballah and the Palestinian Hamas. Therefore, Iran's first response to attack will not be to attack Israeli population centers as the Revolutionary Guards officer threatened, but to strike the home bases of its air force, missile and radar as well as the Israel-based US military facilities, so that Israeli warplanes will have no facilities to come back to and its missiles are knocked off their launch pads.

4. Iran's means its air defense war game as a rejoinder for the joint US-Israel Juniper Cobra 10 anti-ballistic exercise which took place for two weeks earlier this month. Iran's leaders had to make good on their vow not to leave any American or Israeli military step in the region unanswered, although the anti-air exercise will expose the big hole in their defenses. Even if every last anti-air measure and device they possess is deployed, Iran's nuclear facilities will still be susceptible to attack, be they the uranium enrichment center at Natanz, the Isfahan fuel plants in Isfahan, the facilities in northern Tehran, or the reactors going up in Arak opposite the Straits of Hormuz.

IAEA calls on Israel to sign Non-Proliferation Treaty

By Yossi Melman
For the first time in 18 years, Israel, the United States and the Western powers were unsuccessful at preventing passage of a resolution calling on Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The resolution, passed at the end of the annual general assembly of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna on Thursday, also demands that Israel open its nuclear reactor in Dimona to international inspectors.

The resolution was passed by a majority of 49 countries, among them the members of the Arab League and the bloc of developing nations; against 45 Western countries, including the European Union and the United States, and 16 abstentions.

The non-binding resolution mentions "Israeli nuclear capabilities."

In the past, the United States and other Western countries were able to persuade the developing countries not to join the resolution, thus thwarting its passage.

Another resolution, passed with the agreement of Israel and Egypt, calls for nuclear disarmament in the Middle East, and for dialogue among all nations in the region to this end.

Israel's representative at the conference, deputy chief of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission, David Danieli, said the resolution was counterproductive, stressing that Middle Eastern countries such as Libya, Iran and Syria, and Iraq in the past, had contravened the IAEA's resolutions despite being signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. He said these countries were planning to develop or had already developed nuclear weapons.

Israel did, however, manage to thwart a proposal by Iran to prohibit any member of the IAEA from attacking the nuclear facilities of another member.

Why should Iran be forced to comply with IAEA demands, when the Israelis are free to spit in their faces?

i doubt iran will touch tel aviv, they risk losing tehran. i worry more about the other regional forces after their braggin about the ranges of their rockets this will lead to israeli annex of new lands, pushing strategically deep (a good thing for a growing population). Iran can hit a lot more than tel aviv... they will more than likely hit US bases regionally and close hormuz.

And what about the fallout from the destroyed nuclear facilities? It'll surely spread into neighbouring countries.

Iran's military may not be comparable to Israel's highly advanced and technological one, but she fought Iraq for eight years, and to a standstill. She even crossed into Iraqi territory, as I recall. Hundreds of thousands dead, and chemical WMD used against her, too.

Without a definitive knock-out (red for a reason...), this shit could go on for years.

Now we're into a whole other ball game.

There was a piece on Haaretz the other day about the this Iran-Israel war potentially lasting years (it brought up the Iran-Iraq war as an example), but I doubt that Israel, with its tiny size and tactical military, could withstand a war that went on for years.

Then again, I just can't see her using nukes to end it. For me, an impossibility, in every sense.

Exactly according to plan..

The jews and mohammedans are expected to annihilate each other.

Three world wars.

"The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time." 4

Pay attention to the first line of this quote. We can see it played out right here on GLP!

Who are the two main accusers?

Islam and ZION.

ALL as the Emperor has forseen it.
