Clearly you must have been overstating your support for parental "rights."

Otherwise, you condone a lot of heinous activity. I don't want to make a list of things that we both know that you wouldn't support, but there are so many examples of things that parents can do to/with their children that our culture has outright deemed illegal, immoral, and seriously punishable.

So, if you want to move forward with some credibility, I think you should at least take back this statement.

You can of course still believe in some arguable practices, but to say that you will ALWAYS side with giving people the right to do as they wish with their children simply isn't true. There are some things that you would protect children from.

I actually liked the ear-chopping example, but there are worse things that some parents might want to do that I know you wouldn't support.
