interpersonal relationships if you ask me
help those who need help
don't help those who don't want your help
and for those who need your help but don't want it, don't try to convince them they need your help, just help them where they want you to
its about making other people feel better about themselves
at least that is what it is to me in my every day life
(glp excluded :p )

The interpersonal part I agree with absolutely... although I don't have a clue why He chooses to reveal Himself in such a drastic way (like the Christopher incident) to some & not to others, although I do agree that if you absolutely do not want His help, you're probably not going to get it.

that would relate to feeling empathy ...imo
feeling christ is to feel empathy
wich is not the same as sympathy ...

That's definitely part of it... but it's so much more than just having the ability to be empathetic. It's also the knowledge that you're *never* alone... and that life isn't just chaos-then-death-then-dirt.

And so much more.

feeling alone can be a very arbitrary sentiment
some people feel alone because they have no family but they do have neighbours and friends
some people feel alone because they don't have neighbours r friends but they do have family

one of my part time jobs is to talk to lonely people , especially elderly people t hat have no one else, no caring neighbours, no caring family...
others are families with new borns who feel the stress of adjusting to new life is more than they can bare

trust me Scrumpy, that breaks my heart each and every time
I even know one muslim family whos mom AND dad are grateful for my care just for doing things such as putting the garbage out, and they don't care one bit that I'm an "infidel" , I feel they appreciate my presence and in turn I try to make them feel good about themselves
I have one old lady who never comes out, who I basically just talk to over tea, making sure she takes her medication while I play cards or monopoly with her , or take her out to go grocery shopping
I have another family with a child who's autistic but seems to liven up whenever I bring one of my dogs along ( the amstaf) and the parents are blaming themselves for not being able to afford a pet... even before they knew me.

That all is very emotionally taxing at times
but its oh so worth it !
