why was Jesus side so significant?

I am a nobody, but I have been searching for this answer and hope the Holy Spirit will answer my question. I feel the "side of Christ" was open to empty himself for us, humanity, and for the sprinkling of His Holy Blood both physically and spiritually for the giving of His Divine Mercy, For this, He (Christ Jesus) emptied Himself for the sake of the remission of sin, Divine Mercy.
