Some focus on hell while others do not. It is disingenuous to claim all self professed Christians see things through the same eyes. Quoting: D. Bunker
I am talking about the religion, not the religious people, in the sense that there is no need for Jesus to save us from hell, if there is no devil.
In Reality, if God is love, there is no need for Jesus.
Every person, I think, does what they think is right based on their perspective. Morality is subjective in that sense, and certainly a LOVING God would UNDERSTAND that.
Also, the idea that without evil there would be no reason to Christianity is somewhat silly. In their paradigm, this is indeed the point. It is the supposed goal to purge evil simplified in the person of the devil. Quoting: D. Bunker
Without the devil, is what I said. The devil is the "person" that offered everything to Jesus, and Jesus turned it down. The temptation, the tempter, is out there everywhere, preying on your soul and will eat you forever and you will burn forever and that's why you NEED Jesus and this religion.
It's just the truth about the religion. It's stupid. How different people respond to it is barely worth discussion. The point is whether the religion is true, and if not, what is it? A lie and a psycho manipulation and therefore, the very evil that it SUPPOSEDLY tries to combat.
Reminds you of liberal politics, doesn't it???
My experience with 'devout' Christians is mixed much like all other segments of society. Many are quite decent, sincere people while others seek shelter from themselves within the religion itself. Still others use such a structure to further their own selfish aims. Quoting: D. Bunker
There is nothing special, just humans being human.
See above. People are people. What they tell themselves about Jesus makes Very little difference in how they are, it is an INEFFECTUAL nonsensical load of hoo and occupied only a tiny portion of the soul no matter what. That's why it has almost no impact on people, for real, that's why they have to keep coming back to church to get their faith recharged and blah blah...
It's a bottomless pit, they keep feeding it with trillions and building more and more churches and paying more and more pastors and it has FAILED on all levels to do anything worth noting.
