The truth is simple enough, unless you AGW idiots immediately denounce the East Anglia liars... you will NEVER EVER have a shred of credibility again.

You choose.

Re: Climategate DEVELOPING HARD!
It's fact.

There are many other facts, like go to Tuvalu (go on, get on a plane and GO see it, GO, see it with your own eyes) and see the reality of rising sea levels.

And yes, I have bothered to go see these things for myself.
 Quoting: Witness_

Tuvalu eh? That's in the Pacific Ocean. If sea levels are rising, why go to Tuvalu to see it? Why not San Fransisco? Or any other place near the Pacific Ocean.

If sea levels are rising, why are they only rising in the middle of the ocean, not at the edges? Why is Tuvalu sinking, but San Fransisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Port Moresby, Sydney, Honolulu, etc, aren't? Could you have seen something else????

University confirms that "Climategate" information has been carefully selected by sceptics to try and discredit the science behind global warming.

[link to www.google.com]

The University of East Anglica said that information published on the Internet had been selected deliberately to undermine "the strong consensus that human activity is affecting the world's climate in ways that are potentially dangerous."

"The selective publication of some stolen e-mails and other papers taken out of context is mischievous and cannot be considered a genuine attempt to engage with this issue in a responsible way," the university said in a statement.

any chance on answering those questions witness you are a scientist after all!

The strong consensus......
Backed by what scientific evidence?
Show me the evidence.

----------------------------------------------------------
If the scientific consensus is so strong, how can a few emails damage it? If the evidence for man made global warming really is there, why so much concern about the leaked emails? Surely independent examination of the evidence would produce the same results. You know, if they didn't delete the evidence already and replace it with "value added data".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 263458

Because there are a small number of self interested people who do not wish to have their lifestyles interfered with and care nothing for the benefit of all the others they share the earth with. These people will mischievously misinterpret illicitly obtained information to further their own personal agendas by maliciously misinforming a large number of people who do not themselves have the ability to understand the contents of the emails, or the intentions of them.

Re: Climategate DEVELOPING HARD!
Sorry, they are not giving up that easily. The MSM is bouncing back hard against Climategate. And they are receiving much support from readers for manmade global warming (and the neofeudalism/control grid it will usher in).

This is what I was greeted with on Yahoo, from the Huffington Post.

A few weeks ago, hackers broke into the emails of one of the Climate Research Unit of The University of East Anglia, and climate skeptics have been having a field day making mountains out of molehills about what the emails contain. The verdict on global warming is in -- it's caused by humans and it is happening and nothing in the emails remotely challenges that. However, with the internet abuzz about what has been labeled "ClimateGate," we thought we should set the record straight about the rumors, lies and insinuations about what the emails actually contain -- and what they "prove" about climate change. "ClimateGate" itself is a misnomer, the nickname should be "SwiftHack" for the way people with political agendas have "swiftboated" the global warming reality. As world attention turns to the climate conference in Copenhagen this December, this email hack acts as a distraction from the huge task at hand of getting world leaders to commit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As professor Richard Somerville says, "We're facing an effort by special interests who are trying to confuse the public."

Check out our slideshow and pick what you think the most dangerous lie that is being spread by skeptics about the emails.

All of this global warming is true. But a majority is coming from the sun. You can see all the changes on the other planets too. It is heating up the earth from the interior. It is an excuse to get rid of the excess populations dragging on the world's economy.

She said there are "natural variations" in temperature caused by the weather as well as natural phenomenon like El Nino and human effects like pollution, but overall the climate has been getting hotter and has reached its warmest period in recent years.

Neither one of these is true, which is why I can say confidently that “ClimateGate” is overblown–and which is why I’ve never been impressed by systematic attacks on the “hockey stick.” Even if that study falls, we still have global warming on our hands, and it’s still human caused.

Monkton has completeley destroyed global warming arguments in this post - he shows how the data has been deliberately 'tortured' to show a warming trend when the reality is actually a cooling one!

People need to go to prison for this, this is deliberate falsification.

Actually you cannot "destroy" fact. The fact is that you can get a ticket, go to Canada or Russia and see the permafrost melting for yourself.

No "debate" or "argument" can change that fact.

Oh, there are endless places that you can see the reality of global warming.

So "debate" can deny that. Just idiots too stupid to care, too lazy to check the facts, too mentally dead to think for themselves.

And yes, I have bothered to go see these things for myself.

Re: Climategate DEVELOPING HARD!
Six Things We Know For Sure in the Wake of ‘Climate Gate’

1. Climate change is a very real and present danger

2. Scientists are Human Beings

3. That there are major dirty tricks campaigns at work.

4. That there is no vast conspiracy to uncover

5. Even if there was, conspiracy theorists would be the last people to uncover it

6. That Climate Change is Not the Only Reason to Break Our Love Affair With Oil
 Quoting: Witness_

1. The climate changes yearly, monthly, and daily. But there is no credible evidence the earth is warmer now than it was when the Vikings grew grapes in Vinland, or when the Romans grew grapes in Britain. You can not grow grapes in either place now more than 1 year in 10.

2. Yes, that accounts for the East Anglia CRU doctoring their data base and refusing to release it for verification, then destroying a large part of it.

3. Yes, they have been uncovered at East Anglia CRU and in New Zealand. More will probably come to light in the next few weeks.

4. The conspiracy may or may not have been vast, but it involved the key players among the warmers.

5. Right, An insider dumped the docs probably because he didn't want to be part of perpetuating the lie anymore.

6. So the global warming hoax was all about reducing oil consumption? Was that the motive?

I happen to believe oil production has or will soon peak. That is a good enough reason to start looking for sensible substitutes.

You should find this interesting:

"Past great climate changes were driven by natural cyclical processes such as the position of our solar system, wobbles in the Earth's orbit, changes in the sun, oscillations in the oceans and tidal changes.

Random events, such as volcanoes, also changed climate. In the past, climate has not been driven by atmospheric carbon dioxide and water vapour is the main greenhouse gas.

The greatest biomass on Earth has always been bacteria and bacteria are the only life on Earth that has ever made great changes to the atmosphere.

Since the first photosynthetic bacteria on Earth more than 2,500 million years ago, life has been sequestering carbon dioxide.

Over the last 500 million years, carbon dioxide from the atmosphere has been sequestered into algal and coral reefs, shells, cements, precipitates, fossil fuels and sediments.

During these times of atmospheric high carbon dioxide, the oceans were not acid.

As a result, the atmospheric carbon dioxide has been decreasing over time, despite massive additions from natural processes.

To state in public that carbon dioxide is a pollutant is a public advertisement of a lack of basic school child science.

Pollution kills, carbon dioxide leads to the thriving of life on Earth and increased biodiversity. Carbon dioxide is actually plant food.

There have been six major Ice Ages.

Two of these show that ice was at sea level at the equator and five of these occurred when the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere was up to 1,000 times greater than now.

The proposition that a high atmospheric carbon dioxide content creates global warming, 'tipping points' and unstoppable global warming is incommensurate with the past.

In a past great Ice Age, an interglacial sea level rise of at least 600 metres was associated with a sea surface temperature rise to at least 40-degrees Celsius. Now that's a climate change." -- Geology Professor Ian Plimer

Who cares if Global warming isn't as bad as they say it is? Even if global warming is BS, humanity still has a colossal drain on resources and creates massive amounts of pollution. Maybe the carbon dioxide isn't warming the planet, but it IS turning the oceans acidic and destroying food chains. All the fish are becoming bi-gender and toxic. All the artificial estrogens from plastic and birth control in the water are making HUMAN men feminine. We still need legislation to counter that kind of pollution.

The ocean currently has a pH of 8.1, which is alkaline not acid. In order to become acid, it would have to drop below 7.0. According to Wikipedia “Between 1751 and 1994 surface ocean pH is estimated to have decreased from approximately 8.179 to 8.104.” At that rate, it will take another 3,500 years for the ocean to become even slightly acid.

The ocean has always been basic, it is just becoming more acidic. Sorry for being unclear. Also that rate is drastically speeding up of course, you can't say that 1751 had pollution like we do now. For such a large system like the oceans to change even slightly can be catastrophic to biomes like reefs that need calcium carbonate, which is used up to try to keep the water basic. Many small creatures in the plankton and shelled creatures cannot make shells at all or they are much weaker, strongly affecting ecosystems. This is already happening and it can only get worse.

"Five of the ice ages saw a far higher atmospheric carbon-dioxide content than at present. So carbon dioxide could not have caused past climate changes. Indeed, early Earth had 1,000 times more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than now - yet there was no runaway greenhouse effect, tipping points or acid oceans.

In past ages it has been naturally absorbed into everything from limestone reefs to soil, rocks and living things. For example, limestone is a very common rock and contains 44 per cent carbon dioxide.

Dissolving carbon dioxide in ocean water has not created ocean acidity. The constant chemical reactions between ocean water and sediments and rocks on the sea floor have kept the oceans alkaline. When we run out of rocks on the sea floor, then the oceans might become acid. Don't wait up!"

It is true that the oceans are a great carbon sink, my whole point though is that it barely needs to change to disrupt sensitive ecosystems like reefs. I agree though that co2 is not the main problem, I find the many other pollutants and dissolving plastics much more worrisome. Those need to be handled first.
