Gannon User ID: 5667540 United States 11/19/2011 10:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why ASSUME his size is due his behavior?! That is total bullshit. The airlines should allow and accomodate all individuals. THEY are the ones who choose to squeeze people in like sardines. As long as the ticket isn't a last minute purchase, they should GIVE him two seats. If it is last minute, and NOT for family bereavement, then the individual certainly should pay for two seats together. Big people suffer enough, why pile on with this? Even the ones who are large because of their behavior only get that way because of deeper issues...they deserve our compassion not this bullshit abuse from those of you LUCKY enough to have better genes or no overt psychological problems beyond your ugly megalomania. When I was younger I flew a lot. I had 32" waist and 6'2" and cannot remember ever being comfortable and I was under 10% body fat but I swim and lift weights and have massive shoulders/back... That guy could have 5% body fat and still not fit in a size.. he'd probably be about 20% less wide, not much difference |

I love that idea! Although I'm fairly slender, I would be happily willing to pay extra $$ for a larger "space" when I fly, especially on international and transcontinental flights. I like my 'personal space' just that much. What a concept! ...'n dat's da name a dat tune! |

Sincerely, John Detroit Good for you for standing up for your fellow man, John. I'm blessed to be a bit below the modern average size for American women, but I do a lot of work in bariatric surgery (I assist 3 bariatric surgeons on a regular basis) and you are right - morbidly obese patients have many underlying issues on several fronts, ranging from emotional to medical and all points in between. They are best served when treated with a spirit of compassion and understanding, a willingness to be their ally on their journey to whole health. Good for you, friend! ...'n dat's da name a dat tune! |
