Airlines should not have to accommodate them; Why should they? If I want to ship a box with UPS, I pay per pound. If the truck is about to leave to deliver, they don't give a pass on a few extra pounds. Big things take more money to move. Now if you decide to eat your way into the Guinness book of records, that extra weight is on you. You are responsible for what you eat and how much.

Big people don't need our love; they need our criticism. They maybe depressed. Well, get out and find what makes you happy. Is it GLP? Maybe building RC cars? The fact is, they can live on less food. How is it right for them to eat more in one sitting then some Americans get all week? Why is it politically incorrect to talk about someone's weight? Hunger is an issue the world over, yet lard asses exist.

It's called willpower. Sadly most people in America have a lack of it outside of supporting asinine bullshit.

Why don't they make some handicap seats for the obese. Obviously it's an issue that isn't going away. These people have a handicap so fix the darn planes to comply and don't charge more for a handicap, that is dumb.

Like it or not, a percentage of the population is grossly obese and we will never fit them into regular-sized chairs. The airlines should have taken out the back 2-3 rows of seats (years ago) and replaced them with larger seats (or bench seats) to accommodate those customers, extra tall customers, or those with disabilities. This is really BS to make this poor man sit half off the seat - how uncomfortable and humiliating for him. The men in my family, while tending to skinny, also average 6 1/2 feet. I have heard too many horror stories about airplane seats not having enough room. Why don't the airlines realize this is a big issue?

While economy seats are cramped....you should not even be TRYING to fly "economy class" when your BODY is not ECONOMY CLASS.

You want to be the size of an elephant?....you have to pay the freight costs for all the weight.

When I went to United for plane tickets, the lady asked if I wanted extra leg room. I said I only have two legs and asked her if I could get a discount.

My son is six-five and has traveled to Europe. He requests the emergency exit seat. Granted, the seat isn't wider, but it has more leg room.

Theaters have the same problem, especially old Broadway and I imagine other old theaters. Those were built before obesity was an epidemic. Maybe they too should have wide seats for overweight people - at a premium, though.

I think he can't fit in the seat because of the arm, so he is sitting on something he placed on the seat the same height as the arm. That makes him look taller. I doubt the airline would take off or land like that, so the passenger next to him, would have had to been given a different seat at that time, or been expected to sit on the big guys lap.

There is an extent to how nice people should be expected to be to accommodate these people. We are doing doing it far more than with our wallets compensating them for the space and weight. The passenger next to him should get reimbursed.

used to work for delta airliens as sales representative - such passengers needs to buy second ticket to be able to fit.
And this needs to be checked at the check-in, in case such passenger bought 1 seat only.

He's not as tall as he seems. He's sitting on the arm rest, which must be a good six or eight inches higher from the seat.

One would think that if brilliant engineers can create a machine that flies, someone a fraction of a percent as brilliant could install modular seating on these flying machines, so that we don't have to hear about fat-people-on-planes drama every 2 weeks.

He must be so uncomfortable. I wonder what happens when someone had to pass him by. There is hardly any aisle room, and certainly none for the refreshment cart. I sure hope that was a very short flight.

The guys head is way above all the other passengers, he's simply very big. With all the spending for the deaf, dumb, blind, lame and halt with ramps, wheelchair access in every bathroom across the nation, the airlines should certainly accomodate this giant of a man. For taking his picture without permission the employee should be eaten! Fuck off midgets!

Never had to use an extension at least, but always feels like I'm squeezed into position. I feel sorry for those that have to sit next to me.

My husband is a businessman and sometimes has to fly in a moment's notice - which means he gets whatever seat is left. So he's all crammed in the seat and the moron in front of him reclines his seat to take a nap.

I used to work with a guy that weighed in the 440 to 460 range. He was about 6'1", but when he was sitting down you would swear he he was 7'6". I guess his ass was so big it was like sitting on a stack of telephone books.
