We are not told to be "purpose driven" we are told to be Jesus driven. For a short answer. The long answer addresses the real message in terms of what the PDC says and how it is opposite of God´s word. |

You know, I heard that God really hates the color Red, and if you happen to die with a Red shirt on, then you go straight to hell. Also God can’t stand people named “Carl”, so if you name is Carl, either you better have it legally changed, or you better get use to swimming in a lake of burning sulfur and fiery brimstone. Yeah, I am familiar with your theory that God is actually Insane. Unfortunately I happen to believe that God is the mutually exclusive binary opposite of Insane. |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How do you extract "you are following the doctrine of demons" in a message that tries to explain that God has a purpose for each and every one of us? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anywho . . . I had an English Professor in college that seemed to have something against me. It didn´t matter what original essay I presented to her, she was critical of it, sending it back with red marks and harsh painful edits, etc.. She was a taskmaster and I hated her for it. My esteem waned under the weight of her criticism and after college I stopped writing. It wouldn´t be until years later when I picked up writing again did I find that she still resided in my head. "Do this, don´t do that, hone this sentence, take these garbage words out", etc., etc.. Same words, but this time I was old enough with a little more maturity to realize that perhaps the message behind those words were a challenge rather than a carelessly wielded harmful blow. Perhaps she saw something in my writing that had promise, but in it´s immature form was not ´cutting it´ as any form of literature. I then became my own worst critic, slaying the dragons of bogged down inneffective verbage until the pure intent of the interior of my thoughts appeared clearly on page; chisled, much like a sculpture until the form of clear intent of thought emerged. Practiced over and over again, this ´harsh treatment´ eventually flowed freely until it became effortless. That´s the point of the art of writing where that English professor wanted me to arrive. Not with a trashcan full of waste, but with a way to express the interior of my soul. I am forever grateful. |

He seems to be more of a personification of the atmosphere rather than an actual god. (Isaiah 40:12): "Who has measured in the hollow of His hand the waters, and meted out the Heavens with His span." (Isaiah 66:1): "The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my foot-stool." |

The Serpent 12/08/2005 10:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think that 5081 is trying to say that if a Christian murders someone “God” is a lot more forgiving than if a Hindu, or Muslim, or Jew had murdered someone. You see once you believe in “Jesus” it’s like magic and Evil acts actually become Good acts. Whereas if you are a non-Christian than Good acts are actually Evil acts. Also once you believe in “Jesus” then it’s like being an Atheist where you don’t actually have to worry about the consequences of your actions any more. In other words, according to #5081 being a “Christian” is kind of like being friends with Tony Soprano. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It means to waste large amounts of time in shallow activities that do not benefit yours or other souls in a positive (deep) manner. There´s a reason why we´re here together on this planet, and why others have gathered around us in close proximatey. If we´re not encouraging each other to discover and realize their purpose/worth during our contact with them, then we´ve failed them and inadvertantly ourselves as well. Hence the statement, ´we splash around in ´shallow waters´. I did this last night, only I did something much worse. I spent several hours watching others do it and today, I´m pissed off with myself for that. Perhaps too, the older I get it has dawned on me that time is precious, can be taken from us without warning. Therefore it would be better spent having a deeper purpose. |
