I think one child per couple for now until we reach an environmentally stable and responsible population is a very noble and correct goal.

Endless overpopulation will result in horrible death down the road.

After an environmentally sustainable population is reached then two per couple.

If someone were to give you the choice of having one child and everything would be great or having multiple children and all your grandchildren would die of starvation and pollution what would you choose?

I can get behind a one or two child per adult policy world wide.

We need something to slow down the population growth a lot.

What we could do is give every adult a 1 child voucher.. so couples could have 2 (one per adult), and if you don't want kids, you could sell your voucher to another adult, or something, so you have no kid and some couple has 3.

Of course humanity is too selfish and plain dumb to go for any such system.

Just look at how many many of you idiots pop out kids while there are millions of homeless and parentless kids out there who need you.

It is a sorry thing that government has to get involved, but people live in their own very small world and simply cannot see beyond it. They have no perception of what human population growth is actually doing to their Earth.

There should be a time lapsed movie showing a panorama or human population growth and its effects on the Environment/Eco system.

For those of us who have been on this Earth 60+ years we can personally tell you that the effects have been deleterious.

By the very nature of life in a very populous area your Freedoms are necessarily restricted. You young ones have not idea of how good we had it growing up and living our youth.

You could drive miles without seeing another car.

No air pollution (except in big cities), water was clean; not polluted with prescription drugs. You could safely drink water in wilderness rivers. You could safely eat bottom feeding marine life. Some places you could hunt and fish without a license.

There are places today where you cannot even sell rocks off your own land.

So if you want a world with 40 billion people, be prepared to have lots of rules and regulations that restrict every aspect of your life. What you can eat and how much; Where you go; what time you can go; how many clothes you can have and when & how you must wash them. There are some areas today where you are not allowed to hang your laundry outside. YOu must use your electric or gas drier. So much for saving your carbon credits.

None of us is the beneficiary of any of these wars.
We are in fact the losers.
We lost loved ones. Some of them that lived are/were terrible maimed.

During WWII food was rationed. I never understood why they did that. There was as much food being grown as ever. The men in the armed forces certainly did not eat any more than they ususally did. So why the rationing? Doea anyone know?
