Quoting: Anonymous Coward 331367 They are not. Give an ADHD child legos (or anything else) and he will be bored by it within 5 minutes. Give an aspie child legos (or something else he has interest in) and you have to drag him to the table to eat .. 10 hours later. The ADHD child will be annoying at school and miss what he should learn by being loud, the class clown ... The aspie child will miss the lessons too, he will be to busy drawing cars, animals or sic-fi spaceships into his books to listen to the teacher. And many of us have ADHD.. A semi "made up" disorder, which is so farrr from Aspergers my mind is blown that somehow people confuse the two? | Cult of Personality User ID: 16209895 07/13/2012 09:05 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | there must be varying degrees to this 'disorder' .. I don't consider myself as having it, I'm perfectly capable of being sociable with people at work, for example, I just don't want too. I admit to not being socially well adjusted but it's more of a skill not learned to me, and at this point in my life, I don't want to learn it, I don't want to sit around a bullshit, it's pointless. People tell the same jokes and obsess over the same things day after day. It's boring. I don't think I'm better than anyone, I just don't want to be like them. To each their own. I don't need to text constantly and interact constantly to be happy, I prefer peace and quiet. It's one of the reasons I'm here on GLP only in spurts. I think it's called being an introvert, but I'm among the most introverted person I know. Most introverts are still very people focused and admit as such. I am not. I'm focused on the whole forest, not the trees. And I see the hypocrisy in people, how cruel they can be to those that are different, and that doesn't make me want to 'be like them' more. Of course that's all perception and playing the victim in life won't get a person anywhere, they need to get past the victim role. I openly acknowledge my behavior creates people's perception of me, and I could change, and may change somewhat, but will never be a chronic sit around and bullshit type. But there are some articles I've read that I think really hit the nail on the head, and the article on Aspergers is the best example. Regardless, browse ED long enough and you're bound to find something that offends you. Which is why I have not gone looking for their article on Speach Impediments or Pansexuality. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20770363 08/05/2012 07:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As someone who has aspergers, I can't say things coherently most of the time, but I am high functioning. I just can't process things at a very fast speed - but if we had hiring going on like we did in the early 2000's I would love to work a full-time job if my employer was willing to work with me, and I might even be inclined to go to school and take out a student loan, but now I know that there probably won't be any jobs. So a lot of people with Aspergers are unemployed right now. Even people with engineering degrees. People who don't have AS. The last numbers of unemployed Aspies in America was 80% or so I believe. Blue Chips like Walmart are hiring but they're filtering out people with "behavioral disorders" like bi polar, tourettes, aspergers, etc. I don't believe AS is a disorder - but it really should be treated as one because until we reach a Utopian existence where everyone can critically think, autism will never be treated equally in society. You can see it in teenager's jokes. And in the movies. Whenever someone makes fun of someone they say "What are you, autistic?" I'm thankful I receive disability because if I didn't, I would be screwed because not even McDonald's will call me back. |

Now, I don't mean to be presumptios; however, I do have an idea of who is behind the epidemic of Aspergers. It is the king of a fierce countenance. When a human being displays love of wealth, such as coin collecting (Psalm 10:3), Stubournness and an unrepentant heart (Romans 2:5-8), and deviant eating habits- this could include eating one's excrement- (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), it is a possible sign that Satan has possessed them. Obviously, on it's own, this is not enough to convince us that possession is the answer, and exorcism the cure. However, we must remember that we are approaching the end times. The Antichrist and the false Preacher will soon begin recruiting minions to build the army of Satan, and this epidemic could be their work. Remember, guys, that aspergers are usually atheists; and atheism is a harsh attack on god (I think the false preacher may be a certain atheist demagogue who's written a few books and is very popular with aspergers people). This is, obviously, not conclusive proof of demonic possession, though I think it's worth some consideration. I'm sure there are exorcists more qualified in this field that we could invite to discuss this matter further on here. God bless us all in these turbulent times. |

Someone once explained it to me as there being people that they respect, and people that they like... Don't worry about the lack of friendships - I know we're taught that it's bad to be unsociable, but don't believe it. We have different priorities in life, and there is nothing wrong with that - just cherish your family and your hobbies - they're both critical to having a fulfilled life, for us. And the idiot suggesting that we're possessed by little demons: stop and think for a moment, and you'll realise that what you are saying is pure evil. |
