Aspergers is a fake disease.

Technically speaking he is correct. In psychiatry there are two types of illnesses: a disorder and syndrome. A disorder is an actual "disease", if you could call it that, with a biological cause, whereas a "syndrome" is nothing but a cluster of symptoms of something not medically recognized as a medical condition, disease, or illness, or otherwise a disorder.

When the term syndrome is used it simply means that: An "illness" which there is no test which indicates its presence because it is only mere symptoms with no biological basis.

To pump money into a fake disease is wrong. There is no heirarchy of disease...nothing that is more important, again I did not say that. I cited a few diseases off the top of my head.

The problem is that people see things in two sides. you're for something or against it. remember that in between, there is an entire population of people who do not dwell in the far left and right. just because i believe aspergers is fake does not mean i think cancer is king disease and should be eradicated...

and to the other person, no i do not have this 'aspergers'...i wouldnt waste a doctors time. i go on about my day and deal with life as it comes at me.

ITs real otherwise there wouldnt be a population of people who are anti-social and write bizarre things that arent that intelligent but more like selective obsessions that dont see the whole picture.

My aspie son has been awkward and different from birth you creepy idiot. He was born with it, and you are the ignorant one, not him. He is a brilliant six year old boy who does four digit math, loves chess, and could probably outsmart the starter of this thread any day of the week.

I have asperger's, and I've gone my whole, (well, since 7th grade) trying to be normal and people couldn't tell. I'd still do awkward stuff. And I'm smart. No matter how hard I try, I'll always have trouble understanding basic concepts. I get confused on concepts when I look back I should have understood. The disorder is not fake. I'm better at making friends and everything then I ever have, I just can' make close friends as much. I can't relate or understand a lot of things.The bottom line is, I can fake being normal, but you can't fake the difficulty in comprehension that comes with Aspergers. Sometime I have to pretend I understand something, because I don't want to keep asking "what?" It's hard to follow some "non-jargon" basic conversations.

I watched my little brother grow up with Aspergers, it isn't fake.

These kids do not and can not have a normal childhood.

I've got an autistic son and my wife has an aspergers son. It is very much a real disease. We have other kids that are not on the autistic spectrem. You my friend are misinformed. Spend a little time with actual children that have this disease and your mind will change.

i am about double the average on the test score and im convinced my middle son is afflicted. he is 12 now and we've been dealing with it since he was old enough to walk and talk.

The reason I think its over diagnosed is because why has it only been recently that massive numbers of people have been diagnosed with it? If its real the bigger questions is WHY has it become so common? I think its over diagnosed but if its real then why the massive jump in the number of people who have it?

I and a friend have it. It is not a fake disease at all. The human brain is a computer and complex, some are different than others, like computer parts.
