Aspergers is a fake disease.

I'm far from ugly but I have it. Don't judge people who do have it and are trying to get rid of it. Sometimes having it makes us as smart as we are because of our attention to one or a few subjects for such a long time.

Well let me jump on the bandwagon then, if you must!

My daughter is 2 1/2. She is the most beautiful child you might see with gorgeous blond curls and a sweet face that would melt the best of hearts and resolve.

At the age of 3 months, her symptoms were severe enough for us to be told she may eventually be given an autism diagnosis. We worked our asses off up until this time to help our little girl navigate through her cloud. Most likely, she will be soon diagnosed with Asperger's. My little girl:
- Cannot tolerate people outside of our family that lives in my home and sometimes not even us.
- Cannot play with other children of her own age and prefers to wander off to play alone.
- Has more anxiety than most adults could deal with.
- Has the speech, both in receiving and speaking, of a 5 year old or more (this was evaluated), yet reverts to gibberish with the slightest bit of anxiety.
- Cannot let go of thoughts or events. If she fell and scratched her knee, she will bring it up 10-20 times per day for 1-2 months until something more compelling comes up.
- At this small age is already communicating in a manner that is not politically correct. She cannot understand the emotional part with other people. Ex: another child is crying because he/she got hurt...She will give a five minute speech about what transpired and why the child is overreacting.
- Is extremely intellectual which leads to extreme boredom and is constantly on the path to find something else to learn. She is more proficient with a computer than most 12 year olds.
-Cannot sleep at night because of sensory issues, which include light, noise and tactile sensitivity. She cannot sleep because of the sensations or lack of throughout her body.
- She has issues with motor planning at times and has to do things repetitively until her brain finally figures it out. She has trunk and right side weaknesses that are minor but keep her from learning the normal childhood things like riding a bike. Yet she will work on such things for days on end until she figures it out...because she won't be held back or down.

Anything else any trolls would like to know? Oh yeah....I come from a family where ADHD is an epidemic. Although my child may have ADHD, her day to day issues with dealing with the world around her are in no way related to ADHD.

Im not saying that I agree with the OP, I just think it is too broad and vague. I could argue that I have almost every single major symptom, but I dont have it. Social awkwardness is also just how some people are, due to the treatment given to them for some superficial flaw. Sometimes I think that we forget just how cruel kids can be, and how this can affect development

I have aspergers and I can guarantee you I am NOT slow, in fact I'm probably 10x's smarter than you.

It is not invented, finding out I have aspergers was the best thing that ever happened to me, its answered alot of questions for me.

One child may misbehave because they don want to follow the rules. Another child misbehaves because they don't understand why their behavior is socially unacceptable. The second child has autism/Asperger's, the first one is just a brat. Sadly, there are a lot of children who fit the first definition who get diagnosed because their lazy parents want to explain away their kid's shitty behavior instead of actually getting off their ass and disciplining the little asshole. My little brother has Asperger's and believe me- I HATE PEOPLE LIKE THIS WITH A STRONG PASSION! They give people who actually have the disorder a bad name and are the reason that so many people on the internet believe that Asperger's doesn't exist. This kind of faking has also led to the issue being polarized; it's come down between those who think that Asperger's is entirely made up versus those who believe that every kid who can't fit in has it. Only someone appallingly uneducated would take either of these positions. The bottom line is: Asperger's is real, but not everyone who is socially awkward and highly intelligent has it. In fact, most do not have it. It's only a small minority of people who are so socially awkward that it actually qualifies as a disorder, the rest are geeks, or assholes, or both. Another category of people that I hate are those with Asperger's or who think they have Asperger's and use it as an excuse to not even try. Fitting in is harder for those with Asperger's just like reading is harder for those with dyslexia. But that doesn't mean that you're allowed to stop trying, it means that you have to try harder. Stop using the disorder as an excuse and actually make an effort! Otherwise, you're just feeding in to the myth that the disorder doesn't exist.

It seems to me that this is the way of todays parents. Everyone needs to have an overwhelming 'issue' they are dealing with. Nothing like living through your children

I have it and so does a friend. The brain is a COMPUTER, and we all are machines.... We fail one part of the body and the rest will follow shortly after - a machine...

If computers can be re-wired certain ways to increase or decrease power than so can our brains.

The OP is clearly confusing the symptoms of "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" with " Asperger's Syndrome"



Asperger's Syndrom is what happens when a young child with autism finds a way of working around it so he can function ALMOST normally.


The symptoms are all related to an inability to handle large amounts of sensory information, something as simple as a blinking light causes them the same kind of stress that an air raid siren going off in your living room would cause you.

Unlike most autistic children , they somehow learn to cope with it instead of just sitting in a corner and shutting the world out.

Turns out their "coping mechanisms" enable them to excel at some tasks , like reading and math, but they do poorly at other tasks , like facial recognition and most social skills.

In other words , "Aspergers Syndrome" is the medical definition of "Nerd"...and yes , nerds really do exist.

Aspergers is a condition not a disease. Anyone who thinks its fake, well just go away and quiety appreciate the fact that you can afford to rather than spraying your ignorance all over the net.

Not quite, many "nerds" might be AS's, but not all AS's are nerds, and not all nerds are AS's.

Asperger's is a high functioning form of Autism. We happen to be very smart and usually end up having to wait for the rest of people like you to catch up. You might want to actually g00gle the subject before trolling about it.

Now my Uncle is Autistic. He is like Rain Man without the super genius savant ability. He has a daily routine that he follows and as long as nothing interrupts that routine, he usually does ok. He has a job in a light bulb factory which floored me when I found out. He does precision work with a great deal of ease and grace. He puts the filament in the bulb. Watching him work is amazing. Absolutely nothing breaks his concentration on that one task. On this, I envy him.

How ironic that Anonymous Coward writes this very general and hateful slur about people with autism being fakes and yet his post shows all the classic stereotype behaviours of Aspergers. Egocentricity that his view is definite and the only one considering. Black and White thinking that such a complex condition of autism in which some of the most brilliant minds in psychology do not dispute yet in a few parapgraphs he can diss it as fake without researching it. He calls people with Asperger's Egocentric yet he writes this vicious torade of hate without thinking of how hurtful this may be to people with the condition and their families. Then he says all (get this ALL) people with autism are ugly yet he has never met them ALL, a classic problem with rigidity in thinking another Asperger's trait. I'd say you are one of the most classic stereotype cases of Asperger's I've heard of, but as you don't believe that this condition exists and that people with A.S. hide behind their condition I guess you must be that asshole you were talking about.

OP is right. Asperger's is completely made up by rich, or hippy parents who don't discipline their children or make them face the consequences for their actions (i.e. temper tantrums, hitting, screaming etc...).

I was diagnosed with this bullshit, and I went to a school with others who were diagnosed with it. Every single one of them were coddled since birth and have had no character building experiences. All of them are 'socially awkward because when they do something wrong and somebody calls them out on it, they throw a tantrum and it is later resolved by the parents basically abrogating the prior experience with 'affirmations'.

These kids never deal with stressful situations because they've never learned how to deal with it without bringing in a parent to absolve them of responsibility.

I hate being grouped with these assholes, and wish I'd never gotten the diagnosis in the first place.

You're right OP , those peoples are simply shy and ankward . I know a smart guy who kept telling he had this stuff , so did peoples that knew him and I was like wtf its all in the head you just gotta get out more often and talk to girls.

so anything you have not personally encountered does not exist. what a twat you are. autism exists, it can be a very disabling condition, people who have milder aspergers are very lucky.

Just watched the video and it reminded me of how most men act.

The real question is why at 46 did I not know anyone or hear about anyone with Aspergers, ADD or let alone a peanut allergy, growing up? Just hadn't been discovered yet?
