I have read the bible extensively, likewise the quran, the torah, the bhagavad gita (fragmented as it is) and also related texts such as the book of mormon and the Kabbalah.
As I stated, I searched with an open heart deeply wishing for knowledge of god.
All I found was text... each book conflicting not only with the others but also with itself.
Eventually I gave up, deciding that the hand of man had corrupted the myriad of translations and interpretations too much to allow me to find any divine links in the writings.

As for prayer, I open myself to the cosmos, I allow my mind to fill with the idea of the universe, I attempt to feel what you refer to as "creation" in all its terrible beautiful majesty.
I believe this is more true to the idea of prayer then simply repeating rhymes and mantras, once again written by the hands of men.
