BlackBerry users hit by outages

North American customers experienced BlackBerry problems Tuesday night into Wednesday.

A similar outage hit BlackBerry system last week

(CNN) -- Service outages plagued BlackBerry customers across North America on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

"Some BlackBerry customers in the Americas are experiencing delays in message delivery," said Jamie Ernst, spokeswoman for Research in Motion, the manufacturer of BlackBerry smartphones.

"Technical teams are actively working to resolve the issue for those impacted. RIM apologizes for any inconvenience experienced by customers."
A similar outage hit BlackBerry last week.

RIM said it had about 32 million global BlackBerry subscribers as of the end of August.

BlackBerry phones run on multiple wireless carriers, including AT&T, Sprint Nextel and Verizon.
