What obsession?

I live in Houston, we have a HUGE southeast asian population. You would have a hard time finding a handful of white/asian couples in a day.

Honestly not sure where you come up with this. Look at Playboy, the admired actresses, etc. Virtually none are asian, certainly not Indian.
