I was going to put it in a fridge to thaw off, but forgot. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 784375This morning (about 9 -10 hours later), I found it on the counter, all thawed out. Is it still safe to cook and eat, or what? Cook that damn bitch of a turkey!!! Do it now!!! Eat the bastard until it is nothing but bones!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I don't have any food licenses, but if it were totally frozen through, I would imagine it would take over 4 hours to thaw and if you leave it out 4 hours is the max time for meat, that's 8plus hours. It was most likely still partially frozen at 4 hours, I would cook it now. That's just me, though. |

Rot doesn't really set in to be a problem for 24 hours. If your house is set at 68F or lower through the night then you will have a lot less rot than at 72F or greater. | Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 784375 12/27/2009 11:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Turkey is 10 lbs. The water I placed the turkey in last night was cold. It only halfway covered the turkey. It probably set on a counter for about 10 hours tops. This morning, it was soft, still cool to the touch. I did rinse it off in a sink, and tried to wash the inside, but inside was still kind of frozen. So it looks like th Turkey thawed off almost all the way through, but middle/middle is still somewhat hard. I put some salt on the top, and put it in 350 degree oven, it's cooking now. I'll probably overcook it just in case. I was so much hoping to have a nice turkey today (as I missed one on Christmas)....what an idiot! |
